I am thinking of putting up a metal carport for the trailer and can't decide if I should just do the top or top plus one side or what. For those who have put up the metal cover what would you have done differently.

I closed both sides and the rear to the ground and would do it again.

I left both ends open and the sides about halfway down. I'm thinking better air circulation is good because of the heat and humidity down here, and less wind resistance in case of high winds like in a hurricane. But that's all debatable.

I park my MH under a metal carport -roof only. Keeps the sun, rain, and snow off, but that's it. Wind blown rain, dirt, and grime still all over the place when I take my MH out. I have to wash my rig a lot.

However.... I wouldn't enclose it. Nice to have a roof, but still get natural sunlight for those times when you want to work on the rig or use as a workshop area, etc...

My current shed doors are 14' full length and face the west. The sides are open 40" off the ground for air circulation. The rear is full length. This is the second shed I've built this way.

Where we are I'd need to leave the back open to get more room to manometer it backing in and out of the back yard but I'd get the sides covered about as low as the top of the trailer or slightly lower so less rain etc for the trailer, I don't think I'd enclose all the sides, I'd leave the front open as well.

I had a VersaTube shelter put up and it is sided half way down and the front and back are open. This way I am taxed differently than an enclosed structure.

I have a 40 ft metal with the rear all the way down and one side all the way down. One side is half way but I put up chicken wire and have IVY completely covering the wire. The front has the shade curtain that rolls up. I wish that I had made it wider so I could open the slides and work in the TT

I helped Dad build one for his TT a couple years ago. We covered the roof, and halfway down each side. He is considering covering the back about halfway down as well, but we haven't yet. It works well for his TT, and I wish I had one like it for mine. Keeping them under a roof adds many years to their useful life.
