Is the ride/comfort of a class A better than a class C? I own a 2006 31 ft class C that beats me to death on some of the rough highways. New Bilstein shocks did very little to improve the ride. Tire pressure is set per the weight on the axles. Like to hear from owners that have gone from a class A to a class C. Any additional info would also be welcomed. Thanks. take care.

We went from a C to an A 26 years ago and never plan to go back to a C again. Ride, room, construction, manintenance, and visiblilty are all the big plus in the A.

On some of the roads, a Class A can be rough also. A lot depends on how much you are willing to spend. A million dollar Class A coach will ride a lot better than a $100,000 coach. A lot depends on your expectations. I have driven a million dollar Prevost Liberty coach and it is definitely more comfortable than any other Class A that I have driven or owned. It still is not as comfortable as a low end luxury car.

Well, there is a lot of range among Class A's. I suspect the difference between your Class C and a short-wheelbase Class A gasser may not be huge, but a 45-foot diesel pusher is a completely different animal.

Over all length is not always the overriding (no pun intended) factor. I happened to get really lucky when I bought my 34' Winnebago. Just dumb luck, but it has a 228" wheel base. A lot of coaches in the 30-35' range have much shorted wheelbases. The ratio of length to wheel base seems to be an important factor.

You might run a search. There have been many posts on this general subject in the past.

I also made several suspension modifications to improve the ride and handling of the P-30 chassis. It is now quite comfortable. It is still a truck chassis, however.

I have found that the Interstates, on average, are rougher than the secondary highways. The heavy traffic really takes a toll on the roads

Ray, if you're happy with your C other than the rough ride, you might try replacing the Bilsteins with Koni FSD shocks. Our class A had a rough ride until I changed the shocks out to the FSD's big ride improvement with out compromising the handling.

That is exactly the reason we got our first class A. In the C, my DW and I had to just about shout to hear each other. In the A you can whisper and be heard. If the A has IFS and is a diesel pusher it's like driving on a cloud compared to a C.

No ride is perfect but the there is a significant difference between a class C and even an entry level DP. When we got rid of our trailer I bought a used DP over a new class A gasser. We were looking at a new class C as well and I thought the class C rode better than the class A gas but the DP was in an entirely different league.

We think our DP rides very nicely. It does have rattles, etc. in town or on bumpy stretches, but otherwise it pretty much glides down the highway. The captains' chairs are more armchairs than car seats. There is little road or engine noise, so we can converse easily while driving. Pretty amazing for driving a house down the road.

Go to a dealer and drive a class A and you can determine the difference yourself. I have owned both and their is no comparision of a C to A.
