We have our eye on a 2008 Safari Trek in the States but it is not on the list of allowables into Cananda. Anyone know if it is possible to make the required changes to have this RV accepted?

Most likely the Safari and the appliances meet the UL requirements in the US.. They are not CSA approved. I'm sure you can "import" the Safari into Canada, but you need to check with your insurance company and discuss it with them. They may or may not insure it. You really can't retro to CSA stds.

If it's not on the RIV list, it's not coming in! - PERIOD! Here are the requirements and the list.
Look for a vehicle on that list, it will save a lot of aggravation and disappointment.
On Edit,
I scrolled down to the Class "B" section of that list and found that all Roadtreks "2007 and all recent models" are admissible.
But only "1995 TO 1999 Safari Motor coaches inc" units are OK.
Which is it you are looking at?
Check it out and good luck!

When I am searching the internet, there are so many large places with so many MHs on them to look at and pick from in the States. I have found one that I consider big here in Ontario Canada and have visited it. But not sure I got a good feeling about the place. Hope I am wrong about that. After reading this post and knowing just how much I hate paperwork and jumping through hoops I think I will just buy here in Canada. Heck I don't even want to buy from another province, if entails more work then I want to do...lol.
Good luck with your purchase hope everything goes smoothly.

That Model is listed under Monaco Coaches and is Admissible! Sometimes You have to check these things out a little further!
Our good Friends brought Theirs through 2 years ago!No Problem!
We Bought Ours a Dutch star Last summer. The Import Process is very easy and pretty Painless! We saved about 1/3 of the Price that the Exact same unit was being advertised for in BC. This is Our Third RV Import. I would Never buy another RV in Canada!

Thanks so I am on my way to look under Monaco Coaches. Who would have known. How did you find out that Monaco Coaches and Safari Trek were one of the same?
