Power Gear Manual System, went to Power Gear Site, got trouble shooting manual, could not find the exact manual for my 99 Bounder 34V Ford V-10.Trying to find which solinoid retracts all four jacks, or if all four solinoids have to be activated simultaneously.Been up now for two weeks, can't move it.Drained all fluid from reservoir, possibly a hydraulic lock due to 100 degree heat here,no luck.Checked fuse X2 on back of manual control panel,ok,also fuse on harness,ok.Seperated all solenoid connectors, reconnected, nope, removed and clean pump main power solenoid connections, nope, tried to jump the small round solenoid on the bottom with a 12v battery,nope.OK...next step is probably to call a dealer and have the service department tell me to do all of the above, can't get it off the jacks so I have to figure this one out. This coach has the older manual control with the 500210 control panel with the wierd round fuses on the back that look like little electrolytic capacitors. The control panel actually "clicks" the solenoids but for some reason the jacks won't release. They are very clean and springs work well, been using it for the last 3 years.Any experience out there with a solution?Steve,Acft mechanic with a beef.

Never had that happen. Is the emergency brake still on?

I would start the MoHo and put it in drive. The jacks should raise. Sorry I can't help you but this may get the jacks off the ground. The jack system has a safty circut that will or should prevent you from driving away with them down. At least mine does. Don't ask me how I know.

Good luck

Does the hydraulic motor run? Check for a circuit breaker between the battery and the relays that control the pump. The circuit breaker may be very odd size/shape, but will be in series with the heavy power lead to the battery. It won't have any other wires connected to it other than the heavy leads.

Just one thing else, power gear has a "Time out" feature, if you turn on the ignition and then turn the power gear switch on the panel to ON, you need to push the "Retract All" button and then wait for them to retract. If you wait to long, the panel will time out and you have to turn the ignition OFF and then back ON and start all over. Do you operate your jacks with the Engine running and the gear shift in PARK? I do because that is what is recommended by Power Gear. By having the engine running, you get an assist from the alternator putting out 14.1 volts to the battery. So if you are not running the engine give it a try, engine running, gear in Park, Emergency brake ON.

The pump doesn't have to run to retract.
Sent PM. I have the manual.

I have had the same problem on my 99 Bounder. What I did in the middle of my panic is to turn the MH off and restart. The second time it happened I had to turn MH off and restart 3 times before the Power Gear jacks started retracting. I think it has something to do with the ignition switch but I am not sure.

You should be able to disconnect the hydraulic lines at the pump and then manually pry your jacks up... at least you will be able to move.

Gents,
Boy, is this interesting to me. We've got the same exact motor home and so far, knock on my head (wood), it's been fine in the Power gear system. I've had to rebuild two of the four jacks 'cause of leaking but, they've always gone down and back up pretty much with ease. Sure hope you boys figure this thing so when it happens to me, I can go right to the problem.

Probably no help but I had the same problem with a 97 Bounder with Power Gear. My teen age nephew asked if he could try something and I was Game. While I pushed the retract all jacks control, he tapped the selenoids lightly with a hammer. The jacks half way retracted and stopped. We repeated the process and got them up. At least we could drive home.

I took the Bounder to a local hydraulic shop and they found the problem in ten minutes. It was the retract selenoid had an open which was actually in the selenoid about an inch in from the contact. Since he didn't have the part, he unwound a layer of wire from the coil and welded a new connector, I had the Bounder seven years after that with no problems. By the way he only charged me $15.00 for the job. I can only imagine what the dealer would have charged me.
