I recently purchased an EU3000IS generator and want to build an extended runtime fuel tank. A video on Youtube has a seller offering a ready-made kit with the generator. The seller has attached a marine(Evinrude/Johnson-type) connector to the EU3000IS mounted over the control panel area. Does anyone have an idea to how this connector is mounted and plumbed to the carb? The on-board fuel switch is turned off when using the external tank, and turned on when using the internal tank. Behind the front cover and over the control panel of the generator is the gas tank, but I do not think the marine connector is mounted into the tank itself. It has to be mounted to the cover and plumbed directly to the carb or through a 'Y' in the fuel line. Without a service manual, I cannot tell if the fuel switch is manually connected to an on-off fuel valve or not.

I think I remember seeing someone who got a spare cap for the Honda fuel tank, and then drilled through it, placed some hose and a connector for that Evenrude hose....then used the Evenrude hose pump to fill/prime the hose. With the spare tank sitting higher than the genset tank, the engine should syphon the fuel down into the smaller tank as it runs down.
Can't say that this actually works or not, but it does make sense. Not sure how much the parts would cost you....but if you can scavange them up, it may be a pretty cheap modification.

Thanks for the reply. Most of the information, if not all, I have found is for a pair of EU2000IS generators using two or more tanks. Their fuel caps are plastic and have a removable venting system, making the mod of adding a connector very easy. My EU3000IS has a metal cap with a non-removable venting system, hence the addition of the marine connector to the face panel and plumbed internally. I have searched everywhere for any information. The only thing I have located is the Youtube videos by that retailer.

Do a search on ebay for either a kit or just a fuel tank cap and provide your own tank and hose. The set-up is very simple. Provide an air tight seal on your existing gas cap with a bung fitting for a hose. Using the fuel that's in your existing tank you start your engine. As it uses the fuel in the tank it creates a vacuum and will start to draw fuel out of the secondary tank which is vented.

I have a Honda 3k. It has to be plumbed into the existing hose from the on board fuel tank to the carb. There might be just barely room to snake another hose down to the one entering the carb. There is very little room on the existing hose to insert a "T" connector, but it could be done. I haven't done it to my 3K. I've considered adding the external connector, but delayed because it is not an easy thing to do. Not sure how he went about mounting the fuel connector. I'm not aware of any off the shelf suitable fittings, mounts, or brackets. You have to cut a pre-formed fuel hose and insert a "T" and connect the external hose in very little free space. I had a devil of a time just getting the wire to the spark plug wire for the hour meter.
I couldn't find the video you mentioned seeing on Youtube. Lot's of videos showing aux tanks for the Honda 2Ks.

Why not get the LP gas kit for it? Then run it off of the RV's propane tank(s)
