The tape that shows is brown and I'm not sure if I want to try to get it white again. So although it is preventing leaks, it is not as attractive as the original finish work.
Hi EMD
When you are saying brown, do you mean the entire surface of the tape or just the exposeded edges of the tape where the micro sealant is exposed?
Any chance of a picture? How long did it take for the brown to appear?
I have not had any discloring as of yet. I however am on the east coast and while we have dirt on the rubber roof and mold... we do not have the same environment as AZ. I have applied a thin bead of Dicor to the exposed edge of the micorsealent to stop it from becomeing a dirt trap. The Eternabond web site pointed me to that tip. I do wash my roof often, about 4 times a year to stay ahead of the black streaks from the roof dirt. I do not know if that has fended off any color changes.
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in response. I didn't think I had a photo, but I clipped this one to show the "brown" surface of the exposed tape. This brown is not on the sealant edge but the surface of the tape. I tried to wipe the brown off with a sponge but it didn't come off. I have not yet tried any detergents on it. I guess this is a small price to pay if leaks are avoided.

H'mm, yes yours for sure has turned brown.... WOW
Well see if this helps any. On mine that is in the gutter side seam area the white tape gets the same black yuk like the rest of the side of the camper from dirt coming off the roof. The black streak syndrome.
To get the black off, every time I wash the roof I use a product called Awesome found in the dollar stores and a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Wet down the tape, squirt some Awesome and then gently wipe with the Magic Eraser and off it comes back to pure white. And heads up, I have aluminum siding treated with Krystal Coat. No wax. Awesome will strip wax so heads up on your Filon sided camper you will need to re wax the cleaned area.
However this is here in central Ohio and while we have some brutal hot humid 95 to 98 F days it is not like Mesa AZ. We have a plant in Casa Grande AZ down the road from you that I travel to for work and it is no way the same environment there as it is here. The Awesome found in Dollar General or other such stores only cost a $1. Try it, you do not have to scrub hard, more wipe and rub. Just wet the surface 1st, apply and rinse soon, keep a wet edge as if it dries back in the crud stays put.
Don’t know if you have a build up or a total properties change due the high heat and dust in your area. This I can say, call Eternabond direct and ask for technical service. They are very helpful and want to know about there product. I have and was very pleased with the outcome. They may have some guidance on what is occurring.
If you find out anything please let us know. Seeing yours is the 1st I have seen the issue like that.
Thanks for sharing.
John
PS On edit, do you use any type of UV treatment product like 303 Protectant or other brands? I know they have turned plastic a yellow/brown tint. While they protect from the sun, they have this side effect. The Awesome helps get the oxidation back off but then you need to treat again so 2 to 3 months later you are taking the yellow/brown tint back off. Eternabond may be reacting the same as yours as it looks like it is 100% even brown in color which is about the same effect as the 303 does on much of my plastic. And thge sun speeds up this yellow browing effect. And you ahve sun!! Especailly the shower dome on the roof. That thing turns almost as brown as your pic. Spray it with the awesome and it bleeds brown comes abck to like sort of white, then retreat with 303 and wait 2 to 3 months for the next roof wash and do it all over again.

Wow! Thanks for the cleaning info. I had read about Awesome and 303 protectant but have not tried either. We bought Mequiers cleaner/wax and so far we have washed and waxed twice (since last December) and rinsed dust off in between with the pressure washer. It is probably due for a full wash/wax again. When I do the roof next I'll try the 303. We have plenty of Dollar stores around, I just have to get up the energy to go shop at one!
I'm not really unhappy with the eternabond although I might call and find out if they think this is a bad batch. I heard there were a couple of bad batches and they made some replacements. I'm glad that there is something so effective in preventing water damage.
I haven't noticed the shower dome being particularly yellowed, but if I compared it to new I would probably notice! This is a brutal climate in its own way, but I think that our differential in summer, about 30-40 degrees from comfortable most of the time is comparable to winter in the midwest, about 40-50 degrees from comfortable (70 degrees) for about 4 months. That evens out the climate differences I think. (108 today!)
