Has anyone spent winters in Fredricksberg, TX area? It sounds like a nice area.
Are there many RV parks?
What kind of weather can be expected in January and February?
Do the parks fill up fast, and should reservations be made?
What kind of monthly or weekly rates can be expected?

Thank you
Patrick

A general rule of thumb is you can get freezing temps anyplace north of about Corpus Cristi. With that said, we have bumped into a few that do winter over in that Hill country area and have been doing it for years.

I would not reserve anyplace long term. Most (if not all) parks will have an opening. Just make sure you're settled over the holidays and weekends. I was amazed at how the parks were packed over Thanksgiving. Seemed so odd to me, but must be a tradition in that part of the country to go camping and feasting over that long weekend.

Yes, it is. Just try to get into Big Bend NP during the Thanksgiving weekend!

I don't RV there, but have deer hunted in the Fredericksburg area for the last 41 years. We are typically there off and on in Nov and Dec, and usually there between Christmas and New Years. I can tell you that I have been there in Dec with temps in the mid teens and I have been there in Dec and hunted in T shirts. You can expect cold, but typically it does not last long. You may be playing golf on Monday, freezing on Wednesday, and having an outdoor picnic on Saturday.
You can read on rvparkreviews.com that Fredericksburg RV Park (right in town), Lady Bird RV Park (a couple miles south of downtown), and the KOA (about 3 miles east of town) all get pretty good ratings.

If I were from ND, the teens temp would be a swiming day probally, But since I aint, there is no way in _____, I would spend a week or more in that type of temp range. Yea , it is a beautiful rollings hill area, and yea the people are just fantastic, but I sure like 70s and 80 degree days and 60 degree nights.

So , I dont do the Hll country, I lived in it for 5 years and got out as soon as I could in the winter.

It was 100deg here in ND a couple of days ago, today is supposed to be in the 90's.

Ya, sure, she get cold in vinter, but, by golly, she sure get hot in summer.

I'm not worried about 'cool' winter weather for myself. Just wondering if I would need to 'winterize' my RV.

I have heard about that part of Texas before, and have also heard that some folks do snowbird there. My wife and I have spent winters in western AZ (Quartzite area). For us, it wouldn't be as long a drive to Fredsberg. as was western AZ. Texas is a straight shot south from ND. US Hwy. 83 from ND takes us to the Amarillo, Abilene, San Angelo areas of TX.

On the other hand, there has been some very bad news coming out of Mexico, lately. I don't know if I want to get too close to that country.

I was stationed at Ft.Bliss, TX back in '63. My buddies and I used to go into Juarez very often. We were warned to be careful of theft, but the biggest worry was the Mexican Police, themselves. They would throw GI's in jail just so bail out money could be collected from a US agency.

Weather history for Fredericksburg:
January - average high 61, average low 37, record high 90, record low -5
February - average high 65, average low 40, record high 96, and record low -3

That's a little cooler than I like it, but folks from up north seem to think it's just fine.
