The last time I looked for our P30 used ones were more expensive than this one.

It says there is 8 of them. Looks like a model set up for R-12, that is with mineral oil, not the POE oil used with R-134a systems. Sometimes the compressors are sold without oil, because you can use the same compressor with both oils, only that mineral oil will not absorb a excess amount of moisture while sitting on a shelf, but POE oil will go bad if left exposed to air for more than a few hours.

And R-134a is also not going to like any moisture in the system, it will start to form acids as the POE oil, R-134a and moisture are working in the same system. Not a huge problem with car compressors, but with the insulation found on electric motor compressors, the acids break down the motor insulation, causing motor to short to ground.

So I would check to see if this is a new compressor, or rebuilt by who knows who, and how well? What is the warranty? Some places will warranty a compressor as long as you keep the car.

Make sure your 460 actually uses that compressor before ordering one. My '95 F-53 uses a "dealer install" AC compressor that looks like this:

Price is about what I paid from a Ford dealer. The expensive part is if you need the pulley. If I remember right the pulley and clutch set up was about $280.00 by itself.

What you say is true but the picture shows the complete unit and states:

Description / Notes:
"Replacement A/C Compressor -- A/C COMPRESSOR, NEW -- 6-groove belt; 0.88 in. belt width; 5.63 in. pulley diameter; 1.7 in. gauge line A; Pin coil; Block mounting manifold with O-ring; 4-ear wide tangent, 0.39 in. and 0.32 in. mount; With clutch; A high quality, direct fit OE replacement A/C compressor."

Condition : New

Brand New in the Box - Fit and Quality Guaranteed!

A 99.3% positive rating after nearly 30,000 transactions is not that bad of feedback either. You know how Ebay is always 'suggesting' something and when it popped up the price shocked me.

Gale. You are right. I didn't even notice that the unit had the clutch. That is a deal.

I expect few are being sold for that range of age so someone is making warehouse space for faster moving parts.

While I do not need one for my P30 yet I expect I would buy one for $150 since we plan to keep it another 10 years if the chance came up.

Well there are the P30 AC compressors going for the Ford prices too.

Based on the posted cross ref it looks like the new on is good 81-94

If someone with a 91-94 P30 seriously was looking for a new compressor they are at least afforable. My guess they must be imported and are knock offs of the SD design since they look the same. Not sure if the $30 less for the rebuilt SD compressor would technically be the better compressor or not. Not even sure what rebuilt means in a AC compressor.
