Maybe this was good accident at best while you were not mobile, but my question is do you remove your wheel chocks before you hook up? I always leave mine on until the pull test

The DW was helping and removed the wheel chocks, but it was my fault for not checking the hitch before giving her the go ahead to remove them. Of course I always hitch up first. Wheel chocks are first to go on, last to come off.

The difference between "bashing" and offering helpful info is that this thread started with pictures and info that will help others. "Bashing" occurs when no one has anything good to say about a manufacturer even if they don't own a product and just "pile on" to state an opinion. If you don't have a personal experience and can post info that helps, it is "bashing" to me. As long as this thread runs as it is it will remain open. Stay on topic. If you don't like what I do, PM me or ADMIN. Posting your disagreement with me here isn't going to continue. We have PMs for that too.

I started a Lippert ONLY thread a few months ago and NO ONE used it. I wanted all the Lippert info in one place so anyone with questions could go there and see what was happening. Since that didn't work, I will watch these Lippert threads and delete, edit or close them as I feel they need it. Lippert is not allowed to answer or rebut so I am NOT going to let them be "burned at the stake" with out recourse. Bear that in mind when you post.

My next unit will DEFINITELY not have a Lippert frame, period.

Frank,

Can you claify something for me? I thought I was told my one of the mods that a company like Lippert or dealer could come on here and rebut or answer as long as they didn't advertise.

I agree, I think Lippert deserves whatever bashing they get.
Me too, I came here to learn before making a major purchase and learn as much as I can before making a major mistake. Threads like this are informative to the novice rv'er and the truth is the truth.
It may be that there are many many Lippert frames out there that have not failed and never will. But, this kind of information causes me to be very careful about who built the frame under my new 5'er. I'm not bashing Lippert...merely learning and I appreciate it.

Well I'm glad you made it IB516. Were you able to site see in Athol I was hoping you would have been in CDA. That shop you were at sure does some major stuff, I didn't realize it could handle that repair, good to know.
Now what a difference in material, you'll most likely be over weight now Like some said "better than new".
Sorry we couldn't meet up but I understand. If that happen to me, lets just say I would not give off a good first impression.
Safe travels home

Your observations and resulting decisions are why these posts are filtered or why these kinds of threads are ended.

That tiny little hole in the wall called Rocky Springs RV repair is fixing it. The building looks like it is ready to fall down, but Bud (the owner and head mechanic ) is treating me very well and seems to know what he is doing. Truth be told, his part is relatively minor (R&R the front cap and mouldings). It's the welding and bending and grinding (done by Blu-Arc welding) that is the big job. Lippert is the one who decided where it would get fixed, and who would fix it. There is an RV dealer and repair shop about 35 miles away that has 40 service bays. That would have been my choice to tackle a big job like this, but it's all working out all the same. The guy from Blu-Arc really knows his stuff. Looks like an old biker, but he's a really nice fella. He lives nearby too. He told me if I ever came back I could camp in his yard .

Anyway, when I went back to check on their progress, I took them a cold 12 pack yesterday. They were working with the shop door open in 93* temps.

The kids are playing at the Triple Play attached to the Holiday Inn Express.

Unfortunately, a cold 12 pack may have been what the welders who did the original welding were drinking.

I have also now reported this to Transport Canada (Canadian version of NHTSA). they gave me a file number, and told me they will look into it. They wanted pictures emailed to them too, so I have done that.
