my 2004 fleetwood with a 8.1 engine air filter came with a filter type bonnet that fits over the main air filter. it almost looks like the home air cond black filters that you use on them. i have been cleaning it for the past 5 years and it has been holding up but is now kind of shot, tears etc.
i called about 5 chevy deales, rv dealers and napa dealers to see about getting a replacement.no one has them nor can they get them so they tell me. many had no clue what it is.
anyone ever get one of these replaced and if so where did you get one?
we drive a lot in the SW in the deserts and figure they give a lil extra filtering of the dust.
anyone else also have one and do they do any good or just wasting my time trying to find one?

Check with Workhorse. I would assume they would have a filter for that engine.

The first time I changed the air filter on my 8.1L the pre-filter was too hard to get back on so I just abandoned it and change the filter more often.

napa/wix air filter is #46316 & has the "pre" filter built into it..

That's not an OEM filter then.

That's not an OEM filter then.
which isn't? the glued on one or the reusable one?
ours was the original that came with the m/h and we bought it new. unless for some reason it was changed before we bought it.

The filter is the regular air filter that all the chevy trucks with the 8.1l engine use. Any Chevy or auto parts dealers will have them. The foam is an integraded part of this filter.
Here is the list filters you can get. Any Auto Parts Store should be able to cross reference the AC Delco number.
W8800481...........Air Filter-With Foam Cover...............Workhorse
A1236C.............Air Filter-With Foam Cover...............AC Delco
A917C..............Air Filter-No Foam Cover.................Champ
