Tomorrow I will take "delivery" of a '93 Roadtrek Popular, my first venture in to RVing. Am looking forward to it. I solicit any input, positives, negatives, strengths, weakness, tweeks, etc., available as relates to '93 vintage Roadtrek. It is a Dodge Ram 350, 318ci, automatic w/OD.

Thanks! OSCN

We had a 2000 Roadtrek with the same engine and chassis for 5 years and never had any problems with it. Other than routine service I don't think anything was ever repaired or replaced. Enjoy your new RV!

Our 96 has the same Dodge 318 Cu. inch (5.2 L). The only trouble we've had is with the cruise control; twice actually, once a vacuum leak, and the most recent was a sticking cable that caused the engine to rev up to a very high rpm. We had to get it towed for this last problem, and thank goodness we had Coach-Net. Since your RT is getting on in years, an Emergency Road Service plan is highly recommended.

Everything else about the Dodge has been trouble-free - we've been very happy.

Unless you have records indicating that it's been done, I'd consider changing all fluids, including coolant, transmission, differential, brake, and power steering. Also, if the tires are over 5-6 years old, regardless of remaining tread, get them replaced. You may want new shocks, too.

Enjoy!

I will take this opportunity to welcome "OSCN" to this forum--especially since it is my RoadTrek which he purchased. He knows the history of maintenance.

Unfortunately this puts me out of the "B" business--but I hope that he as as many carefree miles and as much pleasure with this coach as I have had. (Now I have to alter my profile!)

If there are questions which I cannot answer, hopefully "handbasket" will still be around to help--as he helped me when I first purchased the coach 6 years ago.

Like VE3ESN, we have the 1996 RT. We have had the fuel pump replaced (twice actually but the first one was a faulty part), otherwise only routine maintence. Of course we have had new brakes, tires, hoses, etc. that must be done for any vehicle. Enjoy! lizzie

To all you RV'ers, Mr. thataway & Mrs. thataway are wonderful people. You will be fortunate should you meet them one day at an RV park.
