thanks, I was hoping someone would have done this to a unit similar to mine and could tell me what brackets and gas units they used.

I wouldn't do it. My Cardinal came with them installed on the 2 front compartments. With the Gas lifts, the compartment only opens up 90 degrees and it is harder to get items in and out. Also they put a lot of pressure on the upper hinge and on one side mine ripped out a couple of the screws on the upper hinge. I took the gas strut off and installed a regular clasp on top to hold it open all the way. Should have done it years ago when I got the camper. I also removed the gas strut on the entry door and installed a conventional hook to allow the door to open all the way. Prior to that it only opened 90 degrees and really blocked out the view and was a lot less usefull

If the door doesn't have a hold open device from the Mfg, it may be because if it is held open it could interfere with a slide or other opening. Be careful not to latch something open, then damage it running the slide in or out.
