I purchased a new Laredo 2010 321 Bunk House Fifth Wheel in February 2010 from a dealer at a camper show. The air conditioner doesn't keep the unit cool. We are are talking 85 degrees inside temperature on a 95 outside degree day. The only way to get the temperaure halfway bearable is keep all blinds closed and block sunlight out on the roof vents and no cooking at all inside. Not fun when you have a beautiful view outside and you can't enjoy having the shade up. I have called the dealer and the manufacturer and have been told there is nothing wrong with the air conditioner it is probably too small for our unit and that we should not have ordered it with a smaller air conditioner. I told the manufactuer that I didn't order it that way i purchased it from a dealer at a show. The manufacturer said "well you should have checked it out better before you bought it." Has anyone had any problems like this. I mean why would I not trust that the air conditioner would do its job on a brand new camper?

Do you have double pane windows? Is the RV a 4 seasons unit? Do you only have the one AC unit? A 31' RV takes at least 2 good AC units to keep it cool when the temps are 95 degrees or better even if you do have double pane windows and good insulation in the walls and floor.

The 13,500 btu roof top A/C you have is a one ton air conditioning unit. If you have a hand held thermometer, set A/C to maximum cold and run for at least 30 minutes. The factory A/C specification is approximately 20°F cooler air exiting out the discharge, than the ambient room temperature entering into the filter.
Air conditioners only remove the heat from the air, so if your RV temperature inside is 90 degrees the discharge temperature would only be approximately 70 degrees.
Sounds like your A/C is working within specs!
Most RVers, coming from a cooler and drier climate, complain about poor A/C performance in a hot and humid climate. The RV itself can be the problem. Lots of windows, vents and poor insulation (most RV's have around R-7 walls, ceiling and floors) will result in uncomfortable conditions. Remember that parking in a shaded area, using your awning and closing window shades will help overcome this problem. The RV may require a larger 15K or an additional 2nd A/C unit.

I find that most 5ers in hot humid country need 2 A/C units, ours now has 2 15,000 units and we are very happy we added the 2nd unit.

A 32' trailer will never get cooled by a single A/C unit. Once you hit about 30', better plan to get a 50 amp with 2 A?C unitss.

Has the dealer even looked at the unit? While a too small unit could be the problem, bad installation is a common problem, with air leaks in the duct work, air recirculating from outlet to inlet, etc.

Check out the heat/temp differential like the superduty says.
Also on both laredo's I have had the ducting up in the roof was not connected or poorly connected to the discharge of the unit. It was just blowing the cold air into the space between the ceiling and the roof.
pull the inside panel of the ac and check it out. Also the partition that blocks the intake from the discharge on the condenser was not installed correctly and the air was running around in circles.
take a look.
Watch out on just jumoing to conclusions.
