There are more than several here for the first time, and they are mostly from the Fla birders. After 3-4 days here, they cannot believe the prices as compared to Fla. I'm afraid Fla has lost several of them.

I have no proof behind any of this, but the feeling I get is if the parks are now full in August, then something else is going on then just snowbirding. Either fishing is getting good (Texas) and people are coming from hot inland to enjoy the last taste of summer, or people are losing their homes and have to come up with another option while still making their daily living (i.e. Florida, Arizona.)
Then again it could be the starts of a baby boomer snowbirding wave. The next bubble maybe?

Creditable parks and parks that have earned a "word of mouth" advertising will fill up fast and be full, that is a no brainer . Parks in locations that offer fishing , or lower rates, with not too many frills, will also tend to fill up fast to meet certain needs and pocket books. I would be very surprised that just from our experience last year in the RGV that all of those parks would be full this year. This winter we're staying home without reservations. We'd rather be in our 2000 sq.ft. house , warm and toasty with room to roam, beautiful sights out our windows, and no neighbors 15'feet away, than to be sitting in an RV . To each their own , but for us , no reservations required.

The fishing has been way above great. Catching reds from 15 lbss to 30 lbs, trout a little slow. If you dont catch fish now , you might as well take us bowling. And many people from NTxc and Ok have come down here to the 92 degree heat to escape the 105-107 in their home area. Fact is , many are here for that very reason.

Might be boomers. You can buy a mobile home on a lot for less then $20k in Arizona right now. Taxes seem to range between $350 and $550 a year. Can't see why anyone would pay $3,000 a year or so to a park if they were hard up.

So why post at all on a Snowbird page?
Staying home for the winter was something we did for most of lives now we go from the snow and can walk around "OUTSIDE" in a nice climate and make new friends.

Grujffy,
Are these mobile homes in "resort parks" where many activities have been planned? We like parks with lots of activities and a workout room. If that is the case, then it would be an incredible deal.

Actually DaSu, in the 70s, while living in Waco , I bowled on the SWTBL, a pro league, traveled all over the southwest and made a bit of money doing it. My league average was 230 and I have about 20 or so trophies for 300 games. I still hold the record for consecutive 290 games at 10.
I admit that is before they changed how to oil the lanes, and the surface of them now. And those were the good days of bowling. Soi many pill games, and challange games. Not many left like that.

If you need a park to keep you amused they had sales as low as $10k ... but the rent was $5k a year.
Some of us don't need the park but use the community ... seniors center, LA Fitness membership, or join the local church. Your getting about 1,000 square feet. I'm sure you could find space for your own "workout room."
