What is your strategy for AC use in terms of air flow, or lack there of.

Do you keep all windows and roof vents closed?

Keep windows closed and open roof vents under the heat rises theory. If so how much do you open the vents?

Open some combination of windows and roof vents?

Situation:

22' travel trailer, 13,500btu ducted in roof AC.

Ambient temp = 95 degrees, 83% humidity.

Interior tt temp = 91 degrees.

I want the interior temp to be 70 degrees.

What's the best strategy for this initial cool-down in terms of air flow?

Once the desired interior temp is achieved does the strategy change for maintenance of said temp?

Thanks

If inside temp is cooler tha outside, just turn it on hi... no windows or vents open..
If interior is hotter than ambient, just do as you would in a car... open a couple of windows, vent on... allow inside temp to reach outside and then close it up and turn ac on high.

I leave the roof vent open a little all the time, all year long.

You are aware that the AC is only capable of reducing the temp around 20 deg from return air intake to outlets? If you use an IR thermometer and shoot both places, that will tell you if its working properly.

If you are setting in the sun chances of getting down to 70 during the day is a long shot. Don't go in and out any more then you must. No cooking inside, That just makes it hotter. In 90* day what I do is when it start to get to warm in the RV I turn off the AC and open the windows till it starts to cool of in the evening and stay out during the day.

Leave at least one roof vent open slightly, not to let the hot air out but to allow the high humidity (83%) out. The humidity will rise and exit. Otherwise the high humidity can freeze up the AC coils.

I leave the bathroom vent open full time year round (MaxxAir covers). I only close the front vent when running the AC. The front vent is opened any time the AC is off, including storage.

I have a 13.5btu unit and 25' trailer. Even with 100+ temps it always stays nice and cool inside.

The open vent will just let the outside humidity IN. The only way to lower humidty is across the cold AC coils the water will condense out. If the coils are freezing up, there is either low freon or low air flow across the coil (usually caused by dirty filters).

Run just like you do your house A/C, windows/vents closed so air inside RV circulates thru A/C and will get colder & colder. Also clean the air intake filter FREQUENTLY. They get dirty real quick.

The AC unit removes moisture in the air. I never open anything when AC is on. We stay in rather humid climates and with a vent open, I can feel the moisture in the air. So closed they stay...
