Sitting on my porch today looking out at my Sabre, and noticed a "vent" in the roof(round like a black tank vent)behind the A/C unit that is mounted at the very rear of the unit as the living room is in the back, couldn't imagine why it was there? I have a ladder on my Sabre so I went up and looked at the roof,it is a small vent, and there is one all the way at the front also. The roof on my unit is rounded left to right, and front to back, but the ceiling inside is flat, would there be an air space in this area between the insulation and the rounded roof under the rubber roof? These vents would allow the heat to escape from that area in hot weather....anyone know for sure? Look at my profile and you can see the shape of the roof.

They won't provide much ventilation while the unit is parked because there is no edge vent and very little height difference to produce a temp differential. But while in motion, air pressure will force high moisture air from the attic.

The purpose is to allow moisture to escape.

Quote: Vented Attic System.
Montana’s have vented attic system just like your home that provides vital escape routes for unwanted interior moisture that can cause damage, mold or mildew.
SHOPPING TIP: By climbing up the rear ladder, you should notice the mushroom shaped attic vents at the front and rear of the 5th wheel. This is a HUGE feature, particularly if you are going to be using your 5th wheel for extended periods of time.
DID YOU KNOW? Cooking, showering, breathing and traveling into humid climates can produce a lot of moisture inside the 5th wheel. If this moisture is trapped below the rubber roof, it settles into the fiberglass insulation and roof decking. Many used 5th wheels smell like a musty basement because interior moisture turned into mold or mildew in non-vented attics.
