I have a 2007 KZ Escalade 41 CKS toy hauler. Purchased new from KZ in 2007. The tires that came on the unit ( three per side ) are Goodyear LT235-85R16 G rated (a commercial tire ) . On a return trip from NC to Iowa one of the center tires on the passenger side blew out. The tire pressures were set at 110 LBS prior to leaving NC.
After our return I took the tire to our local commercial dealer for their inspection only to be told that the tire is out of warranty because it carries a 2005 date code. In other words is was two years old when I took delivery of the unit. Upon further inspection of the seven tires (6 on the ground and 1 spare) 5 have 2005 date codes and two have 2007.
I contacted KZ only to be told that they have no control over this issue. Obviousy this was a very disappointing answer.
My question to the forum is.......... has anyone else experienced this and what have you been able to do about it.

You should be contacting Goodyear. My understanding is that the warranty is from the date it was put in service.

On the side of the tires there are 3 numbers indicating when the tire was manufactured: week/month/year. When I replace my tires, I always tell the dealer that I won't buy any tire that is more than 6 months old, I want only "fresh" tires. They will look at you a little strange and it might take a few days for them to get my tires but only "fresh" tires for me.
Just a guess, but I suspect that you would have had to refused the tires on the trailer while you were signing the deal to buy your new trailer, but I would still mail the tire back east. It took time and a number of calls back east but in the end, it payed off.
I had a similar experience with Goodyear tires that came with the tire when I bought it new. After a blow out (the tire had come apart), I called Goodyear headquarters back on the east coast. They said to take the tire to a Goodyear dealer and they would mail the tire to them back east. I also took about 10 pictures of every tire that blew out. (6 total). Goodyear did some research and found some "E" rated 10ply tires ( Goodyear G-647 LT 235/85 R 16 Unisteel) to replace the Marathon Goodyear "D" rated tires. Good year payed me for the cost of all the D rated tires and did not charge me for the new G647 tires
Since using the G647 Goodyear tires I have not had one blow out or tire problem going on 9 years My TT weighs 11,500 lbs when fully loaded. If you want more detailed info, send my a priviate e-mail.

Howdy!
I would not let the tire dealer make the final decision. I would have them file a claim with Goodyear (GY) and have the tire shipped to them. When in 2005 was the tire manufactured? I believe they have a five year warranty, and even so I would still see if GY would warranty the tire. Don't let the dealer dispose of the tire, and file a claim with GY especially if you have any damage to you RV. GY will pay for any damage and tire replacement.

110 lb?
I think the tires on my TH are rated at 60 or 70 lb. I blew out a few fuses on my litlle compressor to get it there too (since learned that need to turn it on before I connect to the valve stem).

Lowryter, the GY 614 RST tire is 10 ply and can carry 3750lbs per tire single, If I recall.
It is rated for 110 PSI if you are LOADED to 3750 per tire. GY has a air pressure chart that shows you can air the tire per what your carrying weight wise.
Most folks air them up to 110 and ride on 3-4" of tread in the middle of the tire.
Heres the link for tire pressure: http://www.goodyear.com/rv/pdf/rv_inflation.pdf

Goodyear has a minimum pressure chart for RV's and they also have this from Goodyear for a tires on a trailer;
http://www.goodyear.com/rv/weighing/weigh_trailer.html
Special Considerations
RV TRAILER TIRES
"Unless trying to resolve poor ride quality problems with an RV trailer, it is recommended that trailer tires be inflated to the pressure indicated on the sidewall of the tire. Trailer tires experience significant lateral (side-to-side) loads due to vehicle sway from uneven roads or passing vehicles. Using the inflation pressure engraved on the sidewall will provide optimum load carrying capacity and minimize heat build-up."
My empty equipment trailers with 7k axles/G614 tires @110 psi never road the tires centers even running without a load.
Goodyear did have issues with the G614 comming apart in the early years up into mid '00's. Later '00's G614 are supposed to be a new and improved version.
Some folks with 7k axles on their RV's have moved on up to a commercial grade LT 17.5 tires and wheels.

I have Superlight Weekend Warrior, twin axle job. Sorry, I don't remember the brand or letter rating on the tires, but I think the max is something like 80lb.
Perhaps I got it all wrong? Where are you ever able to fill those tires to 110lb? I can barely get 80lb at a gas station, those last two lbs take 5 minutes.

JIMNLIN,I had an Alpenlite Stonecreek 36 RL, of all "light" RV's that had G614's on it that at 110PSI, if you drove from wet/moist ground to dry pavement, you could see it was only using 60-70% of the tread area. I lowered the PSI to 100 and 90% of the tread was on the surface. This was back in 2001-2004 when i had it.
Maybe they were defective like you said in that time era.
Still kicking myself in the butt for getting rid of that rig....Damn nice unit.
