I am camping and hooked up to shore power..the other night the lights began to dim and the electrical light on the fridge began to dim also..eventually lights wont go on and fridge/freezer not working
Other electrical things are working thought and the battery is fully charged in back..we even plugged fridge into an electrical cord from land power and it still wont go on
All circuit breakers were checked and not tripped..we are checking fuses now..could it be anything other than bad fuse? Does fridge run on fuse or breaker??
Thanks

Hi,

The fridge requires a reliable 12 volt power source. The converter may have failed. There is also a fuse in the wire to the battery bank that may have failed.

What is the voltage on the battery posts?

What is the dc voltage at the converter?

If in FACT your battery is fully charged, that alone should provide the necessary power to run your fridge in LP mode. It takes about 10.5 volts to run the fridge and that's an ALMOST dead battery. It does sound like your converter has failed and the battery is dead or nearly so. guess it could ALSO mean the converter failed and there is a blown fuse in the positive line from the battery. That would be the place I'd start checking (the battery). Did you physically check voltage? Should be 12.6 when fully charged.

You can also check the converter by disconnecting the battery cable and measuring voltage across the positive and negative leads at the converter (with connection to shore power). No voltage means bad converter. voltage should be well ABOVE 12.6 volts (usually over 13 volts) there.
