You "spay" a female. Such an animal has not been "spaded", it has been "spayed". That was my point, which evidently was lost. A male cannot be "spaded" nor can a female.
Of course you can..A mean dog came up and bit me. Luckily I had that shovel handy and I spaded him. He won't bite no more.

Does it drive you nuts when you talk to someone and they always keeps interjecting, "Do you hear what I'm saying?" or "Do you know what I mean?"
Come on, of course I hear you and I DO know what you mean!

I haven't read all 41 pages of this thread, but there is some funny stuff here.
Ones that drive me nuts are ''cutesy'' contractions of local terms or names.
The Vitrification Plant on the Hanford nuclear reservation is always called the ''Vit plant'' in newspaper headlines or otherwise. For that matter, too many people, (even locals) call it ''Hand-Ford'' instead of HAN-ford. There is no 'D' in Hanford!! (Nu-Clee-Aire has been mentioned already) (This is a place that turns nuclear waste into glass, which is then housed in stainless steel containers and stored)
The local hockey team, the Tri-City Americans are always called ''The Ams.''
Washington State University's team the Cougars are always ''The cougs."
And... Washington State University itself is always referred to as ''WAZU.'' (At least verbally)
Other things that annoy are improper usage of words in newsprint. Just yesterday, someone stepped on the gas instead of the ''breaks'' and rammed into a local coffee shop. Right there in the headline: BREAKS. It's BRAKES you nitwits!!
''Their'' is NOT ''there'' or ''they're'' either.
Okay, one last irritation: stand alone words that need NO extra help. Unique means unlike any other. We don't need ''Extremely unique.''
''Exact same.'' Being just the ''same'' isn't good enough?!?

On edit: Verbal mutilations of Washington state town/city names.
Seattle. It's See-at-tall not Seet-tell.
Yakima. It's Yak-im-ma not Yah-keem-ah
Sequim. It rhymes with 'swim' it does not rhyme with ''sequin''
Puyallup. It's pew-al-up not pull-you-all-up.
Touchet. It's too-shee not touch-et.
Cowiche. It's cow-ee-chee not cow-ichee
Tieton. It's Tie-et-ton not Tie-ton.
Spokane. It's spoke-an not spoke-ain

pin
pen
Or cot, caught.
My English born and raised wife tells me there is a difference. I can't hear it when she says them both.
Just learned that this is because babies learn what sounds are important to discern at the age f. . . 6 to 8 MONTHS!!!! ( And can be taught more at the same time) (from somewhere on TED lectures on the internet)

It's midnight, I'm only on page 12 and I can't stay awake long enough to read to the end of the post right now. Great idea for a thread though. For the moment:
What ever happened to "You're welcome" I even find my self responding to "Thank You" with "No Problem"! Aaarrrrrrgh!
Don't know if this one made it yet; just a regionalism I don't understand: "Y'all have a nice day" when I am by myself. Makes me look around to see if my wife has caught up with me!
And double negatives, such as "I ain't never done that". (Though they are correct grammar in Spanish)
Or : "I never saw him." Never, or just not this time?
Damn this is fun. But I'd better get to bed!
