Oops!

My board potting compound IS beige.

I guess this means I have one of the BAD ones?

Yes, that means you have the 1990's OLD board that had the Intermittant check light problem. The ONLY fix is to replace the board AND install a "groundLoop" wire kit (Dometic P/n 3108702.675) that Dometic offers. Regardless of what some people think, the failure rate of the Newer Dometic boards (1998 and newer) is small. SO small that I cannot remember the last time I had to replace a Dometic board (warranty or CP). The new Dometic board will have Green epoxy. Doug

THANKS!!

That explains the intermittent "Check" light symptom I have as well!

If I buy a Dinosaur board, I wonder if it will have the "ground loop" wire Dometic offers, or if I have to investigate that separately?

My camper has only been used twice since new, but I guess the date-of-manufacturer of the board is the primary factor.

Thanks-
Bob

Bobinyelm,

I had the same failure in my Dometic 3 way frig. (1998)It would intermittently turn off in gas mode anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 or 3 hours. I used two multimeters to prove it was the board by observing the output control to the burner turned off before the thermocoupler milivolt reading went low due to no flame. Spent a half day troubleshooting. Removed the Dometic and installed the Dinosaur board replacement in 30 minutes and have not had problems in 8 years. The Dinosaur board also has a feature to try to relight after 30 minutes automatically if it goes out. This board costs ~$100 from RV mobile.

The ground issue is no big deal. I think an extra wire lead and made no difference in my case. Instructions were included and well diagrammed.

Good Luck!

Sounds exactly like mine. I have a good thermocouple reading several seconds after the solenoid clicks off and the flame is extinguished.

I will buy a Dinosaur P-711 board and hopefully it's my only problem!

Thanks to All,
Bob

With this problem you guys are having does it aslo effect in AC mode? I plug mine into a electric outlet and it immediately goes to LP and not AC. Then after a while it shuts down in LP. I'm going to go look and see what color my epoxy is right now. Todd

todsnorthriver,

When I had the problem it did NOT affect AC or DC operation at all. Only gas operation was affected.
