I went out to move my camper today and noticed a chirping similar to when a smoke detector battery needs to be replaced. The chirping is coming from the CO/LP detector which reads "Replace by February 2010" on it.
Just curious what people replace them with and where they get them.

I got mine at local rv dealer. It was hardwire in. I had previously cut the wires when it went off and wouldn't stop, except for 30 sec at a time. I would go ahead and replace, but check date on new one. They are usually good for 5 yrs.
You can "google it" and check prices or check on ebay. If purchasing on line, especially ebay, ask what expiration date in on it. I located one at better price, but it only had 2 yrs left before expiration date. That are not cheap.

I picked up a new CO detector (for the house) from Menard's for a great price. I saw they had LP detectors, too.

It is possible to have a combo smoke/heat CO detector since these are all placed up high, close to the Ceiling. BUT a propane/LP detector must be placed close to the FLOOR since that gas is heavier than air!

CO is just slightly lighter than air and may be found with warm rising air. That's why CO monitors are preferably placed up high.
