It absolutely irritates me to no end when travel trailer dealers (or private sellers) put "Call for Price" as the price for their online ads. In fact, I interpret "Call for price" to mean "CHA-CHING!". Seriously, if it's too expensive to list the price, why on earth would anyone want to call?
Why not just put the price on the thing and save people the trouble of having to go through the hassle of calling and listening to the sales pitch before finally getting a price, if they are lucky.

I agree 100%! That's why I'll skip over most ads do that, or if it's something I'm really interested in, I'll send them an email asking for the price. That way you don't have to hear any of the sales pitch.
The "Call for Price" tactic must work though, because plenty of lots and private sellers use it!

One, They just want the opertunity to sell you on their price. Maybe they can talk you into it, or Two. They know you won't call if they tell you their too high price on the net.

Yep, me too. So I ignore them. If they can't advertise the price, I'm not interested.

A lot of dealers are subject to MAP(min advertiesed price) policies. In order to move units at a lower cost they have agreed to not advertise it. Rather that post MSRP or the MAP price they get around it by having you call.

A few other things that irritate me about some online ads are...
1. A poorly written subject line that says something like "for sale" or "look here".
2. A poorly written description or a description that says "Call for details".
3. No pictures or a single tiny picture that shows little or no detail.
Number one, "A poorly written subject line", also applies to some forum posts.

my trailer was a call for price... it was a call for price because they wanted to explain it was a show model and an orphan. calling for the price got me a sweet deal.
it does take more time but when buying something this size its better not to rush.

I understand the complaint - but, the reality is that NO listed price is is actual price you would pay. Some are listing MSRP's, some are listing 'sale prices,' etc... Every final price would be different once you call.
It might be something a little annoying when 'browsing.' But, if I know what I'm ready to pay for a unit, I'm going to have to call anyway - I really don't care what fictitious number they posted on the site.

It reminds me of a trip I made to a car dealership many years ago. I wanted to buy a Toyota Camry, so I found one I liked and asked the salesman how much it cost. He said he'd get the manager. The manager said it depended on my trade. I said I didn't have a trade-in and I wanted to know the price. He hemmed and hawed around while I tried to pin him down to a price. He finally, red-faced and really angry, said "Lady, you can't just walk into a place and buy a car like you buy a watermelon!" Honestly, that's exactly what he said! I walked across the street and bought a Honda.
