As soon as I log in, I get logged out on this site. I have a Dell with Vista OS and IE 8.0.6001. This just started recently on this computer and I know of nothing installed in conjunction with the behavior. My laptop with XP and IE8 does not do this.
I contacted tech support and we tried a couple of things but it didn't help. I understand as I work on computer systems for a living and know how difficult some problems are to figure out.
I can still post but have to log in every time.
Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

Since I don't think this is a forum issue per se, this thread is moving from Forum Technical Support to Technology Corner.

As you move around the forum, do you keep the

That everything works properly on the XP machine suggests that there is something in the setup of the Vista machine that is causing the problem.
The forum software does check to see if you are logged in, if you attempt to make a post. The software looks at a cookie on your computer. Perhaps something in the security on the Vista machine is removing the cookie or blocking the software from finding it.

Odd thing is that it used to work on this Vista machine. Worked fine for over a year and half. I suppose some sort of update to Vista might have caused the problem. I'll do some Google searches and double check my settings on IE8.

Could you answer my question in the post above your last one? Just trying to get a handle on the problem.

I'm having the same problem with my Vista PC.It must be caused by a microsoft update because mine was working up until a couple weeks ago.

I agree with Pulsar that it sounds like a cookie issue. Most any site that requires a login uses cookies to keep the connection active. If cookies are blocked on the Forums for some reason, it should not allow you to login at all. I'd check your "Privacy" level settings in IE8(Tools>Internet Options>Privacy)? If it's set at "High," IE8 may be blocking cookies from the Forums as it may not be able to read the sites "Compact Privacy Policy." I get this warning on occasion when using IE8 on the Open Road Forums. You can try reducing the "Privacy" level settings, or click the "Sites" button, and add an exception(i.e. rv.net) which "allows" cookies to be set whenever you visit the Forums.

Another possibility is that you are using something like CCleaner to clean up disk space. All these free programs have an option to delete the cookies.
If you just started using one, you might check their options.
