My question is how long can I leave the black water in the tank? We had trouble with our pickup last week and had it towed home. Our boy came and towed the trailer to his house where we stayed the week. We are home now and the trailer is still at our boys. The black water tank was halp full. I added 3 bottles of tank deodorize etc. It will be next week before we can go get the trailer. I have always dumped the black water as soon as I can but this time I didn't. Any answers will be helpful. talk to you later.

As long as it's not dry you'll be alright for that period of time.

Before you tow it for dumping, add more water to the tank so that it will slosh up anything that has settled.

MUCH better off with sewage in it than being left dry for any length of time. I've had sewage in mine for several months when I left a campground with very little in the tank so rather than risk dumping I just leave it. Good luck / Skip

There really was no reason to dump the chemicals down the black water tank, in my opinion. However, I would pour some in the stool - about 3 inches and let it lubricate the seal while it is sitting. We never use chemicals except as a lubricant. We are full-timers and have no problem. If we leave the rig for a few days, we always leave the chemical in the stool.

Always leave something in the tank, even water should not be a problem. When you move the trailer it will move the contents around. It'll be ready to dump.

Add plenty of water and chemicals and it will be fine until you dump it...but before freezing weather.

If you used an enzyme & bacteria based eco treatment instead of the perfume, the longer you leave it the better. The enzyme and bacteria will continue to digest and breakdown the waste the longer you leave it - the hotter the weather, the better. It also makes teh black tank almost completely odor free. No kiddin'.
When I dump my tanks, there is more smell from the grey tanks than there is from the black. The one I buy is sold under various brand names, but the good ones are all the same. In dry form, they look like fine sawdust. The bacteria and enzyme are packed in wheat bran.

Thanks guys, I sure appreciate your time. Just wanted to know. I haven't left the black water tank like that before. Happy camping. Boy, is it hot here in Texas. WOW.
