I just spoke with forset service and they said the nearest place to ride'open area BLM land' was 20 min drive from there called 'Keyville'? I thought i read post of people being legally able to ride to the lake?
Pls advise.I wanted to take my green sticker atv.

Keysville has a few trails that connect with some of the campgrounds but not across the road to the lake. From 178 take the kernville turnoff ? 155? cross over the river by the damm and make a left at the keysville turnoff. A litle of everything and some hard technical stuff. This is west/south of the fires so they shouldnt be a problem.

you can also ride up in the piutes, a lot of really good riding. 14 to the 178 to s. kelso valley road to piute mtn road, and up the mountain. seriously good trails, insane single track, not a short trip, may want to drop your bikes at piute mtn road and ride up from there and check the area out. really good riding though! good luck!

Be aware alot of the Piute is still closed for fire rehab. I would check with the Forest Service, Sequoia National Forest or Kern River Ranger District in Lake Isabella for full closure details. Don't want to travel that far and be disappointed. BLM Keyesville area is great access for the Greenhorn Mtns and alot more trails on F.S. land up on top where it's cooler. Try Evans Flat campground on Rancheria Road south of Hwy 155, about 7 miles of dirt road to get there from hwy. From there many miles of trail easily accessed. Keyesville area has good camping also, but fills up quick, and will be worse due to fire closures up river. Fire is way north of this area, but is impacting camping from Kernville all the way to Johnsondale, Sherman Pass area, Cannel Meadows.
