Ok I am rebuilding the electrical now and on this camper there are the seperate ac and dc with the dc being a battery no converter.I have installed all new outlets ceiling lights and breakers. All ac systems are working great now except the range hood.I am wondering could it be that the vent a hood is dc power? If not guess it may be time for a new range hood.the battery system is in a bad way and I may just disconnect it as the old glass fuse type systems make me nervous anyway and I dont plan to dry camp.

won't you need a converter... how will you keep battery charged? typically, refers and furnace require dc power. Vent fan is probaly ac... see where it wires in to or plugs in to....

Range hood is DC power. I installed a new one in our old camper a couple of years back. Found it on ebay for less than $20 shipped.

Luckily for me fridge is a propane or ac model and furnace is old school no blower type so I can get away with no dc.

Thanks guys.

Most fridges require 12vdc to run the electronics for both propane and AC. Same with the furnace and water heater. I think you will find that you will need a 12vdc power supply.

You gotta have 12vdc either from a battery or from a converter or both to run these appliances unless they are older pilot models.

pirate a power supply from an old desktop computer, they will be fine for the use you will get in your camper, I replaced the stock converter in my 76 Shasta with 2 from old desk tops, now I have more than enough power for the stock goodies and extras..no cost and take up less space.

Why?
Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering how you got it working. PC power supplies aren't very efficient and its AC in, DC out, why supply AC to a range hood fan thats already DC?

the OP stated there was no converter existing already, so if you have shore power already, it will be by far the cheapest/easiest fix to the problem.
You certainly won't have an issue with running the small amount of DC goods in your average camper. It's safe to say at any givin time I have more 12v toys/bells/whistles going than most, and most of those can be run off one of the smaller(350 or 500watt)power supplies. Plus with most of them being regulated it is far nicer to the more sensitive electronics as well.

Ah, i reread the OP, he's trying to do away with battery power all together. Sorry. I was thinking he should run a 12V circuit, but alas, if he's on shore power who cares about efficiency.

Your solution of a computer PSU is too inexpensive, there has to be something out there that costs more!
