My DW's job has just added a new "feature" in that she is now able to fax a copy of her time sheet to the office (and mail a hard copy to follow). This feature could prove very helpful while we are away from home (her job can follow her as we travel the state fortunately).
My question for you techies is how do I get a portable fax machine to work while at an RV site? I don't know much about these new technologies (I'm lucky when my computer turns on!) so would these faxes be able to run through a cell phone or do I need to ask for a telephone hook up at my RV park? Normally we will be staying at RV parks, but we may occasionally do the state campground thing.

I haven't seen many campgrounds that have phone lines to the campsite. I would recommend an Internet Fax service (where you send an email and it faxes) like faxzero.com or efax.com or a fax through cell phone as you suggested. Here is more information on sending a fax through your cell phone:

There's another way.
Several online services offer inexpensive inbound/outbound faxing via your computer using your existing internet connection. If the document you want to fax is on your computer, you just log on to their system and upload your document to them and they send it via fax to whomever.
If it's a document that you don't have on your computer, you can scan it onto your computer (into a .pdf file) and then upload it to the fax system.
To receive inbound faxes, just give out a special assigned fax number to whomever wants to fax to you. When they fax to that number, it ends up in your email. It's a WONDERFUL solution.
I use MyFax.com, but there are other firms offering similar products.
We prefer state parks for camping and use this method all the time. Most parks don't offer good wifi to the campsite so I use a cellular router for my internet connection and it's great.
Hope this helps

How about an attachment to an e-mail that you have done on your computer or the actual hardcopy you will mail that has been scanned.

When I was working. The company would take a copy of my hours that was signed and scanned to a PDF document. Just emailed it to them. Still carry a Printer, Scan, Copy machine in RV. Seem to need it a couple of times each winter.

efax is one method. But my recollection is the area codes may be out of your area code for every usage. Just review your assigned number.
Another option would be to buy a low budget scanner, scan the doc and send it as an attachment to email.
If you have a printer and scanner, all the other items can be eliminated.
Scan a document it is like a fax
Print a document it is a copy

We have virtually stopped using fax for business. We have an all-in-one printer and we scan and email all documents as PDF attachments.
Even contracts are better scanned as they are much clearer. I sold some property and we were emailing paperwork back and forth for a month printing, signing, scanning and sending. Every document was practically as clear as the original.
You might see if your wife's employer will accept a scanned timesheet instead of a fax.

Dave We use an all-in-one too. A fax is nothing more than a scanned document received as a copy by the recipient. Scanning to a pdf file then sending as an attachment is usually the preferred method these days. Sending by email also has the benefit of you having a documented copy of the transaction in your emails sent folder.
If you have wi-fi (and most usually do), you have email, and you can send the timecard from anywhere without phone lines or needing a scanner. I picked up my all-in-one at Costco for a little over $100. We use it all the time and have never had any issues.
