I bought a 31" 5th wheel to live in while we build a home. I have a 1996 Dodge 2500 4X4 that has a gooseneck hitch on it. I hear concerns some have about the gooseneck conversion causing frame damage to the trailer and I want to be able to pull the fiver to a storage area for winter so I picked up a used RBW UHS-85-7 to install on the PU not thinking that I would have any problem installing it on the Dodge. I have talked to several installers and they either say they can't or won't install the hitch, another says all I need is a installation kit and another says I bought a boat anchor. The guy I bought it from had it on a newer Chev 3/4 ton. AT this point I just weant to be able to pull a short distance and I want to get it done as econimically as possible. Any suggestions?

I had one like that for my first fifth wheel .It worked OK but did not have the tilting head on it ,so if the truck was not level with the trailer it was hard to hook up. I had to some time run up on boards to hitch up. . I think it will be alright for what you want it for. You will need a installation kit I believe. I think it is rated for 14000lb

I have installed this hitch(a few years ago)on both a Ford and a Dodge, and for what you plan to do with it, it will work fine. It is a simple hitch to install, sounds like the people you are dealing with just don't want to be bothered with it.

These brackets will work fine...

clicky

They are good people to deal with also.
