I have driven 1,200 miles (with the bat wing down) and no problems with wind damage.
I'm curious about that - picture gives me an impression this would prevent the batwing from fully seating into the down position.

The batwing is just a mount for the new Antenna. The cable to the TV is disconnected from the batwing.
"I'm curious about that - picture gives me an impression this would prevent the batwing from fully seating into the down position." -- You are correct the batwing does not fully seat, but it is lower than the A/C.

When I first looked at the picture the green insulators looked like a neon light fixture at the local hambuger joint. If it works what can we say.

I too would like to 'improve' upon the batwing's reception.
He means a 300 ohm (flat twin lead) to 75 ohm (coaxial) transformer.
Also there is no such thing as a "digital" antenna. The antenna is designed to receive a certain spread of frequencies whether they are digital or analog. YOu need an antenna for both UHF and VHF as about 25% of the TV stations are still in the VFH band with the remainder in the UHF band.
I do not see how that antenna can claim to be a 125 mile range antenna.

I agree since UHF signals have less range than VHF just because of the higher frequency and even the HUGE VHF home type antennas max out at around 100 to 150 miles and the very large YAGI or whatever they are called UHF antennas for a home install are limited to around 50 to 75 miles. The best UHF antennas for digital reception I think are the planar type due to the off axis signal rejection that helps in the overall Signal to Noise Ratio and IIRC they get into the double digit gain, but are not really small.
I just don't see what was posted having any significant gain over the Batwing add on for actual performance improvements.
