Has anyone purchased the new offer from Verizon for a Palm Pixi or Palm Pre phone that will serve as mobile hot spot. With a 2 yr plan, the Pixi is free the Pre $50. They say choose your voice plan, the normal smartphone $30 unlimited data fee and the broadband hot spot is "free". Hotspot built into phone. Sounds too good to be true. "No connection to Verizon"

Give more information: I just check the Verizon url and it says nothing about free data. They want the normal $30.00.

I purchased a Palm Pre off of eBay and transferred it in place of my BB. The hotspot feature is no extra cost. Works well. The offer has been available for a few months now.

You pay the normal data fee, the phone just works as a wifi hotspot for connecting with a laptop. No limits on connection downloads

Just a too short disclaimer of my connection with Verizon.

Have a Pre and the mobile hotspot works well. There are other phones that can be run the same way with additional software. Like the Droid.

The speed of the downloads has nothing to do with the "hotspot" feature. I find in a good signal area I can get close to 1.5mb speed down.
