my thinking on the reason for only 2 connections (Cable/Sat) is when you are hooked to cable the local channels are included and there is no need for Ant.
and you actually need to have the power sw. off to watch cable TV. The cable coax is hooked up behind the power amplifier and then splits to the other locations. I think if you have the power sw on while you are on cable it will result in a snowy picture.

Im gonna apologize in advance because I just ordered direct tv for home and got a "free" rv tripod and dish. I have a 2010 keystone outback and I know it only has 1 cable connection in the rear. So I was thinking when I get all this installed and I try to hook it up in 5vr, I might turn to the good folks of this forum for advise it I cant get it to work.

Thanks everyone.....In the bedroom on the power booster plate there are two connectors, one is marked AUX/Sat and the other is marked TV. I am not sure what the TV does unless it is for cable tv. I have two connectors in the living room, one is for cable TV and the other is only for the DVD/STEREO (with the push type of plug) I plan to work more on this today but I know that you get no reading on the satellite hookup outside when your receiver is hooked up in the living room. I may have to run a cable down the hallway from the bedroom to the living room for the satellite. The only SAT hookup on the inside is the one on the power booster in the bedroom which doesn't make much sense as we don't watch TV in the bedroom either. Thanks Carl

Are you sure you don't have 3 cables in the living room? One for ANT one for Cable and one for SAT?

If not, there should be at least one cable going from the living room to your bedroom....if that is the case, trace that cable and I suspect it will be the one marked Cable...if that is the case, use your SAT on the outside Cable then you will have Sat on both TV.

I can run SAT, TV, CABLE or DVD at anyone time or all the same time to 3 locations in my camper.

How I did? Simple. Use this handy device.

clicky

The Connection labeled cable actually comes from the power booster plate. If you are watching cable service you need to turn the power sw. off and if you want to watch Ant. you turn it on. I suppose their thinking on that is if you are watching cable the local channels are included with cable service.

the one connected to power is ANT. If Cable is on that line too there is must be a spliter down the wall.

Just drive that rig over to Fort Worth and let me have a look...I can also run some glow sticks and fish another line for ya! LOL

I gave up and bought a new jack to mount in the side near the basement storage and just ran a new coax to the compartment where the receiver is. That lets me have it connected to the sat all the time ,or to the antenna/cable plate to the cable in port on the dish receiver. 2 hole drilled in trailer and 5 minutes to run cable.

Either of the outside cable connectors (Cable or Sat) can be used for the Sat dish connection (if both are RG6 type cable). Just be sure the cable from the Sat dish goes directly to the Sat converter box (no splitters, no push button selector or anything else). The output from the Sat converter box can then be treated just like any other cable TV signal(split, switched etc.).

Sometimes you have to go into the tv menu and turn the cable off. If you get reception from the antenna to both tvs then all your cables are connected. Hooking up the satellite cable to that system should back feed a signal to both sets. Make sure your cable box is hooked up correctly.

There are different kinds of RG6 Cables. RG6 only gives the size deminsion of cables. Sat and cable use different cables. Sat coax cable needs to have a solid copper wire in order to carry without loss the 18 volts that the dish needs to work. Cable TV set ups can use a cable that has a steel wire coated with copper because it does not need to carry voltage. The steal cable will cause resistance and lower the voltage below 18V. Both of these cables are called RG6 because of their deminsions only. Most places such as Home Depot will only carry the steel core cable and don't know there is a difference. It isn't as easy to get it right as one might think.

It gets stranger....There is only one cable hookup in the LR for the TV. After taking the plate off I find that the cable behind this plate is light gray and tracing this I find that it goes under the slide and up into the floor app 2' below the 2 cable hookups outside at the left rear of the trl. I pulled this cable out from under the floor some and found that it had a connecdtor and it connected to a red cable. This red cable seems to go up to the hookups but after pulling off the plates on the outside I find that the sat. hookup has a white cable behind it and the cable hookup has a black cable behind it also I can get no raedings from the red cable to these 2 hookups. The lt/gray cable from the LR seems to be OK but the red cable seems to be shorted out as I get reading from center pin to the outside or ground of this cable. I cannot pull this cable out any more than I did.... Still working on this thing... I like challenges.... Thanks Carl

Absolutely true...... Carl, when you've totally had enough, drill a hole out behind the entertainment centre and mount a weatherproof cable TV Kit.(RV supplies, app $11)
