I just bought a satellite dish and tripod for my 2010 Puma 5th Wheel. On the outside it has a connection for the satellite dish and one for cable TV. When I hooked up the cable for the satellite dish to the satellite dish connector I could get no signal. I noticed that there is only one connection on the inside in the living room where the TV goes. I called the dealer and was told that the cable connection on the outside goes to the living room but the satellite dish connection on the outside goes to the bedroom where it connects to the power booster for the batwing antenna and it has a satellite dish connection there. I was told that I would have to run a cable from this connection all the back to the living room to get satellite there.
Have any of you had this problem ??
I was thinking that maybe somehow I could install another connector in the living room and somehow tie it into the outside connector..
Appreciate any help you may be able to give me on this...Carl

I suspect behind your living room wall plate pull the wire up and you will see a signal combiner and or a 3 way distribution block. What you could do is skip the local cable and just 3 way sat distribution block and be all set. Maybe pull the one in the bedroom too, there is slack in the wall but tug gently. See what is there and post back.

My Sabre has a sat. and cable connection outside also, but at the main TV in the living room,it has a cable hookup and booster, then a separate jack for sat. only without the booster, bedroom has cable or ant. only,no sat. which is fine because we do not watch TV in the bedroom anyway, that's odd that yours is wired that way, maybe someone can shed some light on it for you,you could always do like I did on my TT and just shove the sat. wire in the slide a few inches from being extended then run slide the rest of the way out,Good Luck

Hey Carl, welcome to my world... we install stellite TV and RV's can be a nightmare. You didn't say if your booster has 2 cable connectors on it or has the 12V outlet ? I'm assuming you have 2 connectors with a power switch. First question: does the antenna work on both TV's ? If yes, that's good, you have continuity. You will need to strip the insulation on a small piece of coax with a connector on it, expose the centre conductor and the braided sheath and separate them, and have a DC Voltmeter handy. Connect you sat receiver to the cable in the living room (connect to sat in) TURN OFF the antenna booster. Go out to your connectors outside, connect that little coax and see if you can measure app 18V (this is the voltage the receiver puts out to operate the LNB)If you can measure this voltage, that's the one you will use for your satellite. If you get nothing, go to the bedroom, connect your receiver there and repeat the process, you WILL eventually get something. In some weird cases I've had to run a smaller jumper coax between the 2 connectors on the booster, just make sure the booster is turned off. It does sound time consuming, but shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour. If you have any questions send me an email...Dave

Thanks everyone.....In the bedroom on the power booster plate there are two connectors, one is marked AUX/Sat and the other is marked TV. I am not sure what the TV does unless it is for cable tv. I have two connectors in the living room, one is for cable TV and the other is only for the DVD/STEREO (with the push type of plug) I plan to work more on this today but I know that you get no reading on the satellite hookup outside when your receiver is hooked up in the living room. I may have to run a cable down the hallway from the bedroom to the living room for the satellite. The only SAT hookup on the inside is the one on the power booster in the bedroom which doesn't make much sense as we don't watch TV in the bedroom either. Thanks Carl

They do all kinds of screwy things on the Sat cabling. Our trailer had a standard TV spliter in the SAT coax. That will not work. The easiest thing for you to do is install a new Sat input plate in the outside wall near where you will be installing the Sat receiver. Then put a new coax from that new input directly to the receiver. If your existing input plate is near the LR TV, then you might be able to just run a new coax. Sat TV needs high quality coax and connectors. Harbor freight has a coax connector tool at a reasonable price and works with the new style slide crimp ends.

Noticed that you have a 2010 Puma 5th Wheel. I would think that you would still be under warranty. Have you spoken with the dealer? I would take it back to the dealer and have them fix things so that you can watch TV using the antenna, DVD, cable, and/or satellite in the living room and/or the bedroom. It's not rocket science. You should have a distribution system that should allow you to do this. If not, then I'm a little surprised since it's a 2010 unit. Hope you get things worked out.

Are you sure you don't have 3 cables in the living room? One for ANT one for Cable and one for SAT?
If not, there should be at least one cable going from the living room to your bedroom....if that is the case, trace that cable and I suspect it will be the one marked Cable...if that is the case, use your SAT on the outside Cable then you will have Sat on both TV.
I can run SAT, TV, CABLE or DVD at anyone time or all the same time to 3 locations in my camper.
How I did? Simple. Use this handy device.

my Open Range is wired to run Ant/Sat/Cable at 4 different locations. Living area -front bedroom-bunk house--outside patio. Now don't get me wrong--it was no easy task figuring this out. What they did was put a plate inside the conv. center with 4 cable connections labeled Main(front bedroom)#1 (patio)
#2 (bunkhouse) #3 (living room) I hook my Dish to the Main TV and using a diplexer I also hook-up to the #3 living room TV. Behind each TV there is a plate with 2 connections 1 labeled cable and 1 labeled Sat. Using the one labeled Sat. I run a coax to a A/B switch(A position) from Radio Shack then using the other labeled cable I run a 2nd coax to the same A/B switch
(B position)Then I run a coax from the out port of the A/B switch to the TV. All this is done at TV #3 in the living room. Now in the bedroom I put the Sat. reciever(which btw is a dual reciever that I use in my house when not traveling)
I now hook up the connection labeled Sat. to the reciever and using a A/V composite cable I hook up the bedroom TV to Sat. service. Now I can watch Sat. or Ant.in the living room using the A/B sw. (have to toogle between ch 3 and
ch 60) and in the bedroom I can watch Sat. and if I so desire I can watch Ant. by hooking up a coax. between the Ant. amplifier connection and the TV. Have not yet tried to hook up to Cable service but really don't anticipate the need will ever arise.

The Connection labeled cable actually comes from the power booster plate. If you are watching cable service you need to turn the power sw. off and if you want to watch Ant. you turn it on. I suppose their thinking on that is if you are watching cable the local channels are included with cable service.
