Is hitch an Equal-i-zer hitch, or a generic equalizer hitch (kind of like kleenex, a misused brand name).
If a true Equal-i-zer, was it set up right? Very few dealers know how.
What is your TT ACTUAL FULLY LOADED WEIGHT? What is your ACTUAL TONGUE WEIGHT?
I'd start there to see if it is only terrible adjustment (or a no name hitch).

skipnchar wrote: I guess my first suggestion is to consider tweaking the hitch. There is really no reason your Dodge, provided the numbers you posted are correct, shouldn't be able to safely tow this trailer. I would guess that you may need a tire upgrade, possibly (most likely) a hitch adjustment but it is extremely rare for any tow vehicle manufacturer to have trailer LENGTH as a specification for their vehicles. the wheel base of your Dodge has already been taken into account in setting the WEIGHT ratings for that vehicle. Sounds like you're giving up too soon. For what it's worth, your trailer SHOULDN'T sway even with NO anti sway system attached so if it is then something is not right. Fixing the problem will probably give you the confidence to tow up to your actual ratings. Good luck ./ Skip
There is no way he can safely tow a 2010 32BHDS with a Durango
I think the OP realizes his error.
If you desire a 6 person + vehicle your only options are a 2500 8.1 Suburban or a V-10 or PSD Excursion. Which are only available on the used market. Your next option is a E-350 or Chevy 2500 passenger van.
I'm not sure what engine are still available in these vans. I believe Ford still has the V-10 and PSD available, while Chevy may only come with the 6.0 gasser.
Your cheapest way out is to find a late model 3/4 ton Burb , X or van With a 8.1, V-10 or PSD. Sell or trade your Durango.
Of course you could down size the TT to something more compatible with your Durango.
Either way your in a financial pickle.
I would speak with the dealer there is no way they should have sold you a 2010 32BHDS to be pulled with a Durango!

Whoa, you really went for it, huh? Well you need a new TV and it is a pickle getting one with 6 passenger capability but you already know that by now. Good luck finding what you need.

You don't need a NEW TV. You need a good USED TV! An appropriately equipped Suburban or Excursion, as mentioned above, should be easy to find with fuel prices still on the high side. Good luck! Takes guts to admit a mistake.

I agree with the above-tires and setup...my first thought was checking your SUV and trailer tire's air pressure-they should both be at max for this setup. You also need to undertand that the combination your trailering with will handle extremely differently than the way your vehicle does solo and that your driving style also has to adjust for that-not for nothing all of our trucks handle much differently when towing than solo!
Where in NJ are you and what dealer did your trailer come from?

i would threaten the dealer with a lawsuit, for selling you a trailer that was wwaayy too much for your tow vehicle.
ask to trade it for a more appropriately-sized trailer. a 32' trailer needs a 3/4 ton TV minimum.

Hey!
I won't even pretend to know the facts about length/weight etc. I do know that my FIL was towing a 35' trailer with a 2005 Durango and while he felt OK on flat land, that poor truck was just undersized for the trailer. He got a new F250 that's SWEEEEEEET...but obviously doesn't seat 6.
I might suggest a used 3/4 ton Burb or Yukon. We had a HECK of a time finding a 3/4...those 1/2 tons are everywhere. I found one online in Alabama and bought it over the phone. The lot guys drove it up to MD 2 days before we were to drive to Ohio to pick up our new Rockwood! Thankfully, we LOVE the 2007 Yukon (whew...buying a $30k truck sight unseen was scary!) and it's a BEAST. I named it Gravedigger. And it seats 7 SUPER comfortably...plus a 100 pound pooch in the back. Tows like a dream too.
I can tell how bummed you are...sorry. You can make it right...and you'll be happy you did.

I've read on here all to often stories like yours. You unfortunately have been duped by a salesperson who doesn't care squat about you or the safety of your family.
Don't expect to get any assistance from your dealer. They took you once they will take you again.
You are towing a nearly 10,000 pound trailer that probably has a tongue weight exceeding the rating of your hitch receiver by a few hundred pounds.
Like other already said you need to consider a Suburban, full size passenger van, or something of that sort to meet your needs.
I wish you would of come here before the purchase but the damage is done now. I see a different tow vehicle in your future.

TV wheelbase is too short. No amount of sway control will prevent that. In a high wind or steep downhill grade things could become dangerous. I'd talk to the RV salesperson as a start and tell them they have no idea what they're talking about (in so many words). Most RV salespeople don't have a clue and/or never towed before.
