Where is my battery isolator and what does it do?
What would cause my chassis battery to drain but not my coach battery?
I disconnected my power steps because they do not work. The first time we looked at the coach the steps were connected because I could hear them running like there was a stripped gear inside.Somehow the dealer disconnected them or they burnt up because they make no sound now. They were still connected to the chassis battery because I checked the plug today with my voltmeter.11.6 volts.I disconnected the plug and HOPEFULLY that was the source of my battery drain.
This past weekend we were connected to park power. We had 1 A/C and several lights on in the coach.I hit the battery disconnect on the dash and the lights dimmed. Is this normal?

We have no clue as to what your rig might be, but parasitic loads can drain you chassis battery over time, so it just depends on how long a time.
For your coach power, don't turn off the battery switch, but disconnect the shore power. If the batteries are up, then the lights should stay on bright and normal for quite a while. I mean one should be able to dry camp for days on two 6v deep cycle batteries and that includes running other 12v equipment. If your lights are dim after being connected to shore power for a while, then the batteries are weak or the converter isn't charging them to begin with.
A battery isolator to me is nothing more than a diode that allows current flow in one direction only and could be located in and around your DC circuit board or on the firewall of some older coaches.
