we have a 2006 winnebago A class - bought new.
it has been to many dealers.
every year we have someone check the roof to make sure it is watertight.
This year at a new to us dealer he said the caulking etc was too dirty to know and would have to clean it first.- okay.
then he said that every place that there is join on the sides and back should be sealed with caulking about 13 hours work.
make sense?
no other dealer suggested this.
thanks

I know there are a lot of Winnie owners out there that say they never had a joint problem. But talking to lot of those owners it's because they don't understand how to check the roof joints. Just looking at most of the joints they look good. I have seen brand new units with under 1000 miles on them and have the roof to sidewall joints open in places so water is getting in. In some cases it takes several years before the damage shows up in the walls, might depend on how much open area there is in the joint. Dealer service I have talked to and many of them do not understand how to check the joint other than look at it. Go to a dealer and take your step ladder along. Pick out a few units that are brand new to 3 years old and press lightly on the roof at the sidewall and then tell me how many you find with at least one area along the side that is open. Even a 40' motorhome with one inch open will let water in.

I should have made it clearer.
it is on the side walls and where the back joins the side.
where i assume winnebago would seal things.
but this fella says they should all be caulked

If I could not check my own I am not sure what I would do. This inspection
stuff can get very subjective very fast.

All I knew to do was to put Eternabond on all seams so it was fixed for life tghe best I knew how.
