All the Ontario Provincial Parks and St Lawrence Parks take Visa and MC, you can even book online.

I would have to think that any place that would take reservations would accept credit card, else how would they secure a reservation online or by phone?
I have never found any place that does not take VISA or MC. Like others have said, you likely won't be able to use your Discover up here, and AMEX isn't accepted as widely as VISA and MC.

When we came to Alaska we used our debt card all thru Canada and it was accepted at all nightly stops plus diesel and restaurants. You won't be using your discover card but if your coming to Alaska then they will accept it.When we crossed into Alaska at one of the gas station they gave a 3 cent per gallon discount if you paid by cash but they still took CC's.

This is the reply I got from Ontario Parks:
Quote: Thank you for your email. Ontario Parks accepts Visa, Mastercard andAmerican Express as forms of credit card payment.
From the pccamping website (Parks Canada reservation service):
Quote: Methods of Payment
Methods of payment: All costs incurred through the use of this service can be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express), certified cheque or international money order.
Certified cheques and international money orders: Certified cheques and international money orders are only accepted over the telephone; reservations using these forms of payment cannot be made on-line. When this method of payment is used, campsite reservations will not be confirmed until the payment is received and processed.
All reservations using certified cheques or international money orders must be made at least 35 days prior to your date of arrival at the campground. Payment must be received for processing no later than 21 days from the date that the reservation was made.
We will inform you of your confirmation number by email or by telephone once your certified cheque or international money order payment has been received and processed.

Last year before a trip north I checked and found that discover was the only credit card that did not charge about 3% on top of the currency exchange rate. Then I went to Canada and found that it didn't make any difference. No one would take discover.

I have been back a week today from a trip to Ontario. Discover & Amex are hard to find up there. Visa & MC will charge a 3% fee in addition to the reduced charge for the money. I just made stops at the local Credit Union and made cash withdrawals. The charge was 1%, so I made out pretty good. That was even better than converting US cash in the banks in Ontario. I ws also informed by a couple of Canadians that you don't tip on the tax. Tax in a restaurant is 13% unless your meal is under $4.00. Even the Golden Arches didn't have anything under the $4.00 for us to try it on.

I don't know what all the confusion is all about here.
I live in Canada and travel in Canada.
All I use is a VISA and Mastercard.\
Before I leave I go to my bank and take 500 dollars cash.
Usually I come back after 6 weeks with most of my cash and I charged everything to the credit cards, which does not cost me a dime if I pay every month by the due date.
It's all very simple.
I should add that I travelled through Europe 2 months and I paid for things exactly the same way.
(Some place there accept debit cards, which is no hassle either.)
