this thread is starting to descend into the; I'm right - you're wrong stuff again.
People who've got the money and spend it on adding convenience items to their "campers" should have no need to apologize for that. The folks who also might have the coin but are very happy with the process of camping without all the available amenities have no need to apologize or explain either. Different strokes; no justification required!
Why can't we just leave it at that?
Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

I agree with bstark, if you want to spend your money to make something more convenient then by all means go ahead and spend the money and enjoy your purchase. I dont think I would ever spend the money but when temps go over 100 with 80% humidity here in Texas and I am sweating like a pig setting up it sure would be priceless.

Instead of arguments about who would like to have the system or not, what I would like to know is how well it works. Have those of you who have one had any problems with it?

I've got a question to all the self leveling guys. Is there a problem when you're on a very unlevel site and your wheels come off the ground? I know it's unsafe when class A's do it and their rear wheels come off because of the parking brake but what do you do in this situation for fifth wheels? Can the jacks safely support the trailer when the wheels are not touching? Thanks

Have had the level up system for a little over a year, w/o problems. On very unlevel sites I have had either one side or both (tires) off the ground, or nearly. I feel it makes the unit a little less stable when walking around in it. So far as safety issues, I don't believe there are any; if you didn't roll away once you unhooked all you have done is raised the unit up, but level. No longer are the wheels on sloping ground and the center of gravity of the unit is level also. In order to slide, you would have to be on such a slope that mountain goats wouldn't even go there!
I am at that point in life when I want to conserve my strength for opening twist off caps, not lugging boards and stuff to set up "camp". So, any aid to help ease the load, I want. I like to let my fingers do the walking over a control board; push a few buttons then chill out...

In the rare case that the wheels of one side are off the ground to be level, we lift it a little higher, place a Levelor block under each tire, and then bring it back to level. Doesn't need it, but gives us peace of mind...

Hey aarondeere,
The Bigfoot system has 54,000#'s of lift! Plenty for a 15 to 17K# 5ver.. No problems with the rig moving.

Thanks for the info. I just kept getting a picture in my mind of a fifth wheel totally lifted off the ground and someone walking inside and the rig swaying back and forth till the legs collapsed and the whole thing came crashing down. Too much imagination I guess

At the Tampa RV show last January DRV had one of their fifth wheels at the show with all of the wheels removed and sitting on their automatic levelers. When walking through the trailer there was no sway at all. Good way to show off their automatic leveler.
