I am on the road and ran out of propane yesterday afternoon due to a bad panel light. I stopped and got a full tank of propane but now my Norcold fridge will not go back on propane and all I get is the alarm. It clicks outside in the panel but wont light on gas. Is there something else I have to do? I have tried to get t to light several times as people have said it has to be started a number of times to get the gas back in the line. an suggestions would be appreciated.

First, make sure the propane valve is turned on, then light the stovetop burners and let them burn a couple of minutes to get gas filled in the line.

First of all, make sure the connection at the tank is open and, if you have dual tanks that the feed selector lever is turned to a full tank.

Secondly, it's not a bad idea to light the stove for a minute or two to make sure the gas is coming through the lines.

Thirdly, your refrigerator should be set to "Gas", not "Auto" when priming the lines.

If this doesn't do it, there might be another problem - how old is your unit?

If the DSI board appears to be working correctly, but the flame is not lighting, be sure there is no air in the line and the manual gas valve at the back of the refrigerator is not in the off position. Remember there is a Trial for Ignition Period, after which the board will go into lock out. If propane has not reached the burner in this amount of time, the board will do its job and shut down. Sometimes, if air is present in the propane system, you will have to turn the refrigerator off (for about 10 seconds) and back on to recycle the board's sequence of operation. You may have to do this several times to purge the air from the propane line.

Don't forget that most RV's have an excess flow device at the regulator that prevents gas from flowing if a line is busted. This device also shuts down the gas flow when you first open the valve of a new tank if the system has been opened. It takes a while for the pressure to equalize. Not sure how long it takes but maybe 1/2 an hour.

sorry for the delay in responding but the free wi_fi at the park I'm in is down and has been for the past two days. I have tried your suggestions and still cant get the fridge to start on LPG. It was working fine but the tank ran dry and set off the alarm on the fridge. Since I have filled iy back up I can get the H/W tank to fire on LPG, the stove, etc but the fridge will cycle itself and click like it wants to light but wont fire. The code on the fridge says no fuel so I assume that its not getting any still. How long does it take to cycle this through the line to purge the system? I have tried turning it on and off a number of times but it still wont light. The RV dealer I called said to turn it on and off until it lights as that is how the gas will move through the line to the fridge but it doesn't seem to be working after many attempts. Any other ideas? The manual doesn't seem to help much either as its just says to purge the system? whatever that means....

Follow these directions exactly and I bet it solves your problem.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago, ran out of LPG. I had to bleed the line to the fridge by cracking open the connection at the regulator before the fridge would light. If you do this, be sure to allow time for the escaped LPG to dissipate before attempting to light the fridge.

ONCE AGAIN,It would be helpful to have a little more information.Like what kind of Rv.you have.Motor home, trailer, etc. Why is that important in this case? Because if it is a trailer you have tanks with the relatively new OPD valves on them. It is important when turning those on that you just don't snap it on quickly like we have all tended to do in years gone by.Snapping it on quickly activates the excess flow valve in the OPD and restricts the flow of gas. Things tend to partially work but but not as advertised because the proper volume of gas is not flowing.
So, Turn the gas off at the tank you are trying to use and wait a couple of minutes and then turn it back on slooowly so the excess flow valve does not activate. If you have a motor home or horizontal tanks on a trailer all of the above is not a factor.

The vehicle is a 2002 H.R Endeavor. It has an electronic switch on the LPG tank and the fridge is a two door Norco. I am trying to bleed the line by using the LPG setting and turning it off and on. So far no luck. I'll let you know if I get it going. Today is a travel day so here's hoping.
