nayther wrote: Awesome idea but I would wait until the fall, just too hot right now. As suggested Cuddeback is easy to get to with your rig, I've taken mine there and its only about 15 miles I think to the Husky, all two track roads, real easy on any quad, she'll be fine.
Personally I would head up to the mountains this time of year (going to Kennedy Meadows this weekend myself, but that's two wheels only). I ride a plated dual sport bike so not sure how much is open to OHV up in Big Bear. There are some challenging trails but also a lot of fire roads but with a fair amount of traffic, which could be a concern with a young one.
Check the roads up there the fire in Kernville is outta control at this point. Lots of roads closed up there.

Great idea weather is pretty good right now. Lots of easy trails to wonder around on for the two of you. Just stay away from the campgrounds close to the blacktop road.

We camped off 395 near Calif City. Great riding all around. Jo Burg, Randsburg etc. Husky Mon was awsome a must for any desert rider. I remember several
names there. I rode late 60's and all 70's. Got married and started flying
helicopters but got back into desert and DS riding. Go for it!!

Big Bear is not a bad idea, it would be close for you. You could stage at Holcomb valley CG. Stop in at the forest services visitor center and get a ohv map. Not all forest roads are green sticker.
You could try Los Padres NF near Frazier Park, CA or Hungry Valley SVRA.

Thanks again everybody for the geat suggestions.
I agree that Johnson Valley,El-mo, an all the neighboring areas are probably just too hot.
(but I'm trying to reason with a 9 y.o. that all she can think of is,..."I just wanna ride my quad", lol!
I've done plenty of seat time at Hungry Valley back in the 80's,(it was our favorite plae to ride).
Try doing Miller Jeep trail, on a '78 Yammy IT400, when it's covered in snow and ice ! then get up on top of Alamo Mtn. with 4 feet of snow on the ground, low on fuel, and 1 hour of sunlight left,... BTDT.
thought we may be spending the night in one of the old mine shafts, but we made it out. Wow! those were some wild rides, but I'm not 25 years old anymore LOL!
Pinnacles, Arrowhead, and some of the other places suggested, are sounding alot better for this weekend.
I'm not worried about her small tires, because I put on a set of the DiamondJ adapters, and she is now sporting the origingal wheels from my 400EX, both front and rear. They add 4" width to the rear of her quad,(but it does kind of resemble a Fred Flintstone car with rollers, LOL). Heck, I think the little trx90 might even float on water with those, haha.
For Christmas last year, my wife got me a bunch of really cool Off Road Trails books. I'll be reading up on some of the places you have suggested, later on tonight. We just may have to try something new (from the places suggested).
I'm all for staying cooler, and not getting her too worn out.

Yea Jaxclan, changed the plans, heading to Big Bear Friday morning, don't want to breath smoke all weekend while riding.
Anyone up there stop in, trying for Hanna Flat first, then Big Pine Flat if we can't get into Hanna. Should be up there by noon.
Look for the Rage'n/Duramax with a yellow flag with black checkers (Viewfinders M.C.)
