Appears primarily due to the installed ones not being strong enough to support mattress and mattress topper. Mine are strong enough for the above, but getting access is a pain. I'm not sure of the length of the struts when extended only that they are not long enough! Difficult to use this space because I have to kill my back to get to stuff. Anyone ever change out their struts to longer ones? If so, anything I should be aware of? If you can't find the struts you're looking for you could just prop it up with rod such as used under a car hood. Careful though, they don't always have the same connector on the end. Best to take one of yours with you. In our TT, one of the struts first got bent, and then never did have the support required to keep the bed up. Replaced both. Generally, you will be placing BOTH attachment points closer to the hinge end. I had to move one of the brackets on each side for optimum effect. It's an easy job. Just be sure you have someone to help you hold up the bed frame. I needed a strut with more poundage.
