We have an ugly repaired crack in our Corian kitchen counter top. It was poorly repaired with epoxy some years ago and the repair has discolored to the point where it is quite unsightly.

Damaged Corian Countertop Replacement

We found a talented Corian fabricator that is opening a new shop who has agreed to build us a new countertop. We just picked out our material tonight and hopefully it will arrive next week.

I will be removing the sink and stove myself and loosening the countertop carefully to avoid any damage. I will take much more time loosening the old countertop than he can afford to so that we can remove it in one piece to use as a template.

I am a little anxious but very committed to replacing this as it is the only serious flaw with our trailer.

I will post pictures as the work progresses

We also will be replacing the carpeting and the sofabed.
We were seriously considering upgrading, but decided we should wait a couple more years till we are are a little closer to our second career escape date so we have decided to do a few renovations to spruce the current fiver up.

You are right - that is kinda ugly. Time for some cosmetic surgery. Good luck with the operation.

Undermount that sink while you're at it!

gitane59, I'll be following your work! I'm looking at the same job, but swapping the bubbling formica for a solid surface.

Too bad about that repair. We have Avonite counter tops in the Tiffin. Just about the same as Corian. Before we bought the Bus, DW wanted a 3 burner stove with oven rather than the 2 burner with a dishwasher. When the new counter top was shipped in from Tiffin, it had a break similar to yours. I saw it before it was repaired and examined it top and bottom after the repair. I COULD NOT find any evidence of the crack, top or bottom, even though I knew where to look for it. We've got 2 1/2 years and 42,000 miles on it and still cannot find any evidence of the crack. These things can be repaired if you find the right technician.

By the way, even though we try to be extra careful, this type top does pick up scratches fairly easily. They are fairly easy to polish out, but if I had a choice next time, I'd definitely put granite in instead.

Good luck with your Corian.

Just removed my old countertop on the weekend and took it to the fabricator today. As someone said my old sink looked pretty crappy, so I picked out a new SS undermount sink to go in the new solid surface countertop also.

took a few pictures of kitchen cabinets minus the countertop showing construction for the fabricator.

Countertop minus sink

Coach goes into fabricator tomorrow to start fitting.

The shop says this is the first time that the kitchen comes to the solid surface fabricator.

Just a suggestion, have your guy install the moulded in sink made by Corian.
No seams, just beautiful.
