Hey all going to be taking my wife and kids to Arkansas from our home here in Malibu ca. To visit her friend. I've never done this drive so I'm looking for NICE campgrounds along the way for overnight stops. I will drive to flagstaff the first night pulling in around 3am so starting from there would be great. Thanks for any and all comments.

Did an overnight at the KOA in Flagstaff just off 40 about 3/4 of a mile north on 89, It's a nice place with pull throughs.

On the return from our annual trip to Colorado, we typically stop at Fort Amarillo RV Park on the western edge of Amarillo. Pretty nice place to overnight. Indoor pool, small game room, etc. But keep you wife out of the store. Lots of collectible type stuff among other things, including Christmas collectibles. It may cost you more than your site!
And at about $27 (with discount), not bad on price either. On the edge of town but within a few blocks of several restaurants and shopping.

You may want to consider the casino campground in Sky City RV Park in Acoma NM about 50 miles west of Albuquerque. It has asphalt and gravel, level pull thrus full hookups with WIFI and cable TV for only $15 -a real bargain! It is easy on and off from I40 also.

Stay outta the casinos though. I fell for the cheap parking and dropped around $500 at the casinos. Most expensive campground I have ever been to.

If you need to stop near the west side of Oklahoma, check out Red Rock Canyon. We stay there frequently and really enjoy it.

If you don't make it all the way to Flagstaff the first day, stop at Blake Ranch, just east of Kingman, AZ. It is a great overnight.

Further east, if you pass on the Sky City casino, a park called Enchanted Trails, near Albuquerque, is convenient, and a bargain if you are Passport America.

Meteor Crater, in Arizona, is also recommended.
