my 1992 Itaska on a chev p30 chasis has a specific climate systems dash air installed at Winnabago factory. I just bought this unit a couple of months ago. it has 94k miles on a 454 engine. when accelerating the a/c blower quits blowing until the accelerator pressure is leveled out again. most probably a vacumn leak or not enough. (the SPS factory is out of business.)

anyone experienced this and how did you fix it. thanks

I think it's designed to do that.

Verify that the A/C quits vs just coming out the defrost vents.

With loss of vacuum to the dash HVAC, defrost is the default position.

If it is loss of vacuum, you can check for leak AND can add a vacuum reservoir with check valve to maintain vacuum when the engine is near WOT with little vacuum.

Evidently this was/is normal. Both my 89 and my 94 on the same chassis did this.

Because mine did it during hard WOT. The fan kept blowing but the compressor would disengage. Did that from the beginning. Made sense to me. All the HP for acceleration.

Most worked this way. While the air not blowing would fret me I would accept that as being normal for it and hope it goes back to blowing cool when I take my foot off of its neck.

will continue to do the vacumn leakage search - but talked to a service manager at company that bought up "Specific Climate Systems" (who installed or sold this to Winnie at the time)(nor out of business but taken over by Victory Climate Systems but it sounder like they do not do motorhomes) (I was surprised it didnot have the standard GM system). She said it was not in their system to do that but vacumn shortage would close the door and default to the defrost. she said if I dont find a major leak it should not hurt anything. she also said I could overcome the problem with an aux vac chamber and pump. No major vac leaks found yet and if acc tanks test ok I will just live with it. It only does it in a harder pull like up a hill not on normal get up to speed.

thanks for all your input if I found a miracle solution I will post it.
