I bought a 1992 Itaska 23 ft class a on a chev p30 chasis(actual mfgr date is 1991). It seems to take excessive foot pressure to stop. the unit has a 'brake guard' system added and the rep told me the units as described are probably 18 years old. maintenance records from previos owner (an 84 years young lady) who has been full timing in this unit since 1996 reflect that from 2005 thru 2007 nearly $8000 has been spend on drum, rotors, shoes, pads, etc. some of this could be related to driving habits in mountains; and/or repair station saw a motorhome and a lady coming and overdiagniosed the problem and/or overcharging. but overall it seems like the unit has a severe history of braking situations. because of leak indications I have installed a new master cylinder and a rebuilt hydraboost and after adjusting rear brake shoes it is some better but maybe I am expecting it to be easier to stop than should be because of size, weight and only 16" wheels (brake drum surface area smaller than necessary)

any experience or suggestions are sincerely appreciated.

I had an 86 Pinnacle on a P30 and had the same hard brake. I never was able to get the brakes to respond like I thought they should.
