Okay getting ready to head out on a trip to Vancouver in early August. Going Lethbridge to Kelowna, Vancouver (spending some time at Stanley Park), then heading to Whistler, Kamloops, Calgary and home.
What I am looking for is some TC friendly parks along the way, does not need lots of amenities (Flush toilets and showers would be nice ~ electric plug in would be extreme)? I find a lot of BIG campsites for the 40' crowd looking for all the amenities but having a hard time finding smaller parks. One in Vancouver would be nice as well for a couple nights. We will also have our dog with us so a dog friendly place is a must
Second is that I want to do some (light) sea kayaking. Anyone know of some good places that we can get to that is not tourist central? Don't want to go out to the Island this trip.
Finally they have to allow TC's. Saw one but it seems to say to TCers and TTers thanks but no thanks.
Thanks everyone

There are a few different ways to get from LB-A to Kelowna -BC... what Hwy are you thinking of taking? ( Hwy 3...?) or are your routes up in the air? I know lots of campground near, and on lakes & rivers in the Kootenays of BC, so routes would help.

Your rig would do fine in any of the provincial parks. The cheapest ones have outhouses, the more expensive flush toilets and showers. Few have hookups. But compared to most private parks, they usually have well separated sites, and hiking trails. Some have beaches, though dogs aren't allowed on swim beaches. A few have small dog beaches.
For your drive west, Hwy 3 is the obvious choice. There are many prov. parks along this route. At Creston you have some choices, including the drive north along a scenic lake shore and a free ferry ride. You could approach Kelowna via hwy 6 (from the Nakusp area), 33 from Kettle valley, or 97 from Ossoyos.
The most significant mountain driving will between Whistler and Lillooet. Glacier NP (Rogers Pass) is nearly as scenic.

Here are a number of great places to take your kayaks and do some paddling in south eastern BC, on and around Hwy 3
Moyie Lake there is a Provincial campground at the north end.
Small little lake on the top of the Salmo Creston ( Kootenay Pass) no campground, lots of parking.
Kootenay Lake there is a number of campgrounds private and provincial all around the lake
Slocan Lake ( Hwy 6) This is not on Hwy 3, however it is only 75 minutes from Castlegar, just over the hump from Kaslo which is on Kootenay Lake. There are some forest service campgrounds and the north end of the lake and a great community campground right in New Denver.
Edgewood BC has a beautiful community campground no services right on Arrow Lakes
There are also a couple of other Provincial campground right on the upper Arrow Lakes , we love McDonald Creek provincial park 10 Km south of Nakusp
Arrow Lakes- Castlegar end there is Syringa Provincial campground 12 Km from town
Nancy Greene Lake is a small lake between Castlegar and Christina Lake there at the Jct over to Rossland. There is a small campground which used to be the parking lot but the Lake is great I fished there as a kid from inner tubes.
Christina Lake… has provincial campground as well as private. Lots of boat wake all day long only good first thing in the morning for calm water. ( very busy)
Jewel Lake, most likely my most favorite lake around, it also has a Provincial campground and is very secluded as week as a private campground, it is 10 Km from Hwy 3 just west of Greenwood BC.
If you decide to use any of the Provincial campgrounds in the Kootenays I suggest you make reservations as we are really seeing a big influx of tourists the last few years. Jewell Lake I have never seen the campground full yet, however I haven’t been there on a long weekend.
Need any help drop me a line?
