See my sig for type of unit... it is not hydraulic.
I noticed my slide room came farther in than it has before, almost an inch, and looking underneath I see the slider room frame support has moved from the original position under the box. I found a flange on the extension arm that looks like a stop when retracting, but I see no impact wear marks like it does anything. Is the movement basically stopped by the pressure of the room against the walls, or perhaps just missing some other mechanical stop underneath? I'll probably have to drop the vinyl panels underneath to see more later.

On my slides, they all come in until the seal presses tight to the side of the trailer, sealing it up. If yours has not come in like that before, then it may have not been sealing before.

I'm with Tom. It seems a simple issue of the slide comes into until the seals pull tight. Also, an inspection outside confirms the slide is tight against the seals and even up and down. I don't see how it has anything to do with the underneath stuff.

Gear or hydraulic operated slides may have a limit switch that shuts the power of to the motor as the outside seals close together. Sounds like a limit switch adjustment may be needed.
My previous 5er's slide closed with a load ratcheting before shutting off. Opening had no issues. Once shut off it would take 15-20 minuets before the motor would run again. The problem was the limit switch wasn't adjusted right. I moved it about 3/8" and no more loud ratcheting and waiting 20 min for a hot motor to cool.
idiot spell check.... jim

I don't know about your cougar but do know about the bedroom slide in my 2010 Laredo. My bedroom slide was maladjusted and it was set so the pressure on the seals as it closed caused the ram to clutch. Well it bent the heck out of the rear floor mount for the electric ram.
My lipert electric ram for that slide has to be adjusted for tightness of fit when pulled in by setting stops on the outboard side of the ram itself to make it clutch internally.
I did the repair on that mess myslef.
fortunately my other two slides seem OK

There is a bell stop on a threaded rod that is the adjustment for how far the motor pulls-in or extends the slide room. If you look under your slide, on one end or the other, you will see what I'm refering to. If you don't have your owners manual, you can probably see it on-line. Yours is probably a Lippert brand. Hope this helps. Pcm

My bell was pulled into the frame and had to be cut off and a replacement ordered. Not sure why or how this happended, but it was wedged in and would not allow me to use the manual operation to open the slide.

Earl E -- I notice you have an Arctic Fox. The pictures below show the bolts that are the slide stops on my Arctic Fox (one for extending and one for retracting). The second picture shows the slide against the stop in the retracted position. The slide components are Power Gear. I have heard of Power Gear slide out roll pins/coiled pins breaking if these stops are not adjusted properly.
