Yes, I know they defray the cost of the forum and it is possible to delete them.
O.K. Just try.
I've followd the moderator's suggestions and deleted them 6 times this last week. And they're back the next day or two.
Because of eyesight, I use the cursor to follow along and they do trip me up.
I will never buy anything these horrible booby traps suggest. And you shouldn't either. Then we'll get rid of them.
We pay Affinity enough without this booby trap. Road Service, Health Service, RV Insurance, Good Sam, Camping World, and on and on.
If you like them, please just disregard my post as a guy who is a reactionary and not very progressive.

Just click on the "question mark" and look for a link that says "to disable the advertising, click here". It will remove all of these links for a period of time but you'll need to do it again sometime later on. When the links are not disabled it makes the forum very difficult to even use because the adds are constantly blocking what you're trying to read. I HOPE they're making a bundle from them because I'm SURE membership (or at least usership) has dropped because of them.

I agree, and I'd rather not have to ignore them, I'd like them to disappear so I can read plain text. As an aside, I'm not a big fan of Wikipedia for this reason - half the words are often hyperlinks and it just gets in the way of normal reading.
Take a look at this thread I started.
One of the posters recommended an approach that uses a hosts file and I gave it a try and it definitely works, and works with any browser without browser add-ons.

I use Firefox with Adblock Plus. Works as advertised. I see no ads, on this or any other forum.

yeah, I use adblock in google chrome and don't see any blue lines or ads. I turn in off on forums that are respectful in how they push ads and products.
