Hi All,
We're new to RV'g and this forum. Looking to buy a 5er but are unsure about the difference between towing around a longer rig versus a shorter one.

Assuming one has the power to tow the weight and do not exceed wheelbase criteria .. we're curious as to how much more difficult it is to maneuver and get around while driving. For example driving in heavy traffic or in town with sharp corners and traffic, etc. Say a 35' rig vs a 30 or 32' rig.
(understanding that there are many out there with 5er that is 36' and more).

thanks!

I would venture to say you will notice very little difference. A little wider corner, maybe some weight up and down hills but overall the change should be minimul. We went from a 29' to a 38" and I was surprised at how easy it was to adapt! Start with caution but you will do fine!

Best Wishes!

Well I just went from a 35 to a 40 ft and it is not much different.Just need to leave a little more space when changing lanes on a highway and need to pull up farther when backing into a spot. I really didn't notice the difference.

we have had both a 30ft and a 37 ft and have notfound any difference in pulling either, when it comes to parking it I find it is easer than the 30ft, has something to do with the wheel base but will opt for the 37ft any time. Good luck.

Length doesn't determine weight; weight determines weight. Mine is 34' 2" and I have a 3/4 ton pickup and I am under my weights....

More important than length is floorplan. We a 30-32 ft floorplan you like then find a 35 ft in similar floorplan and see where the 3 ft difference comes into play. Towing wise you may not even notice the difference. As with any towed vehicle, you quickly learn not to cut ANY corners, especially right turn, go as deep as possible into intersection before beginning you turn, and don't rush it.

I cant see it makes much difference as they all pull about the same.As mentioned before just take your time turning in intersections and you wont have any problems.I cant see a couple feet making that much difference.
