A new rear window and the hail damage to truck should be covered under the same claim if you report them at the same time, right? And then the trailer is seperate.
I did the rear window thing 2 times already, slider window, once on the left side and then on the right side of slider window, I replaced both sides of the window with Lexan plastic,No real damage to the truck though,a little bit of a bend in the sheet metal around the window, the Lexan was cut to size first using a cardboard cutout of the window size and then traced on to the plastic and I had it cut on a friends band saw, it will insert it to the rubber gasket very nice, I used 1/8 inch thick and then put the window tint on the plastic and it looks like new and will not break again as Lexan is (almost)bullet proof.

Chocks always FIRST step in unhooking and the LAST step in hooking up.

Ouch...and I was feeling down about my 3rd trip being the charm, break away cable incident/tailgate dropping and slicing the front compartment door/broken exterior fridge shelf debacle. Heck I feel lucky! Trailer tows fine, new fridge is supposed to be coming and for now I stuck a decal over the slice in the door that reads..."INSERT TAILGATE HERE"!
In all seriousness, at least no one was hurt. All our toys can be fixed or replaced. You and your family can't.
Agree though with whoever said it...Chocks first and last. I always "tug" before raising the gear and pulling the chocks. Those are the absolute last two things. my Reese Signature makes it fairly foolproof (knock on wood) to know for sure that you are pinned, but I still do the tug before raising the gear the whole way and pulling the x chocks.

Thanks to this forum and others, I got a long bed and the downside/upside is DW won't drive its because its so big.
But I also disregarded the majority advice and have a Gooseneck adapter to a retractable ball in my truck bed. NEVER have to worry about dropping the trailer as its either on the ball or not and hitching is gentle lowering or raising (don't even have to chock the trailer tires), albeit that process does take a little longer than ramming.

I have decided that I should get better insurance, or give up RVing.
Maybe now you should rethink buying that $250 slider attachment you didn't think you needed, and remember to use it. Then add a pull test, with front legs down, to your routine. And always chock first and last...every time. And use them when sliding back your new slider too. Much cheaper than changing to a lower deductible on your insurance. And you can keep on Rv'ing too.
Lets hope your replacement tailgate is legit. So we don't see another post about you in possession of stolen property. With your luck, you never can tell. Best of luck to you.
