OK, I just did an informal survey of the camp to see how many people have pulled the power cord out of their truck or trailer by forgetting to unplug it. The number is remarkable. So, this is a survey to see just how common it is and what people have done to prevent the problem.

When I have done it I have usually been working on the system and forgot that I was still plugged in, not normally in regular travel due to checklists. I have about decided to get two plugs (M/F) and wire one to the wires on the trailer and the other to the end of the cord, which will then terminate in a plug on each end. I will attach the plug on the trailer to the pinbox with a clamp or other means. Then when I am stupid I will just unplug the cord at the trailer and not rip all the wires out. Has anyone done this, and how did it work? Why have manufacturers not done this?

I haven't.

Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Many towable RVs have cords that plug into the trailer and the power pedestal like my Rockwood. It's an easy conversion for those that don't come that way. Either before or after I've never driven away without unplugging though. Not at gas stations, campgrounds or drive in theaters.

US Govt survey shows three out of four people make up 75% of the total population

I did it twice withen 3 months. When I was leaving the stick house going campig both times. I hope that I learned my lesson but no guarantees. the older I get the forgetfuller I get. At least I have plugs on the cord now that I can remove and replace. I just have to make sure that the cord isn't still laying on the ground at home when I get out to the campsite.

Didn't pull it out but it allow it to drag on my last trip. Gave the cord a good road rash and lost everything but the brakes. The repair was $55 and pretty simple.
